Baby for My Stepbrother

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Brushing past him, I attempted to appear normal as I strolled out into the main area of the club. Just as I thought, Carly was running around looking for me. She spotted me as I came around the corner, a scowl twisting her face. Walking up quickly, she grabbed my arm and opened her mouth to talk, but stopped suddenly, her eyes rounding when she saw something behind me.

I turned to see what she was looking at and cringed when Dane walked past, not paying any attention to us when as he

disappeared into the crowd to continue working.

Finally gaining her composure, Carly eyed me, dozens of questions rolling behind her honey brown eyes.

“Where were you?” She finally asked with a suspicious tone in her voice. “I went to the bathroom,” I lied.

Hitching her thumb over her shoulder, she said, “The bathrooms are that way. Where were you? And why did your stepbrother come out from the same direction as you?”

My shoulders sagged when I realized that there was noway I was going to get out of this. Carly knew how I felt about Dane and she would be angry if she knew I was allowing him to use me for sex.

“Dane dragged me off to talk tome. He’s pissed that we’re at this club. Apparently, this is one of the places where he works. So he asked us to leave.”

“ Screw him!” She was practically yelling. “I don’t know what his problem is, but I paid good money to be in this club tonight and I’m not leaving just because he works here. Why does he always have to be so mean to you?”

Relief loosened my muscles and I was glad that she didn’t see through the lie I’d just told her.

Shrugging my shoulders, I said, “That’s what I told him. So don’t worry about it. Let’s just avoid him for the rest of the nigh and everything should be fine.”

“ Sounds good tome. Oh, I forgot to tell you. Jack’s here.”

“What?” My head spun in her direction, my eyes locking to hers in hopes that she was joking with me. The last thing I needed tonight was to see Jack. Especially after the scene he caused in school earlier in the day.

“That’s why I was looking for you. He saw Holly and Baxter and asked where you were. They came looking for me to warn you and when none of us could find you, we got worried. I thought that, maybe, you saw him and took off because you didn’t feel like dealing with him.”

Grabbing Carly’s arm, I pulled her towards the exit door. At first, she pulled back, but then realized that tonight would end

up on a bad note if Jack decided to show his ass. “ Sorry, Carly, but we have to go.”

She nodded her head and moved quickly behind me as we pushed through the crowd to escape my ex-boyfriend. He wasn’t dangerous, but he was dramatic, and the last thing I needed while Dane was around was to have Jack show his ass.

I didn’t think Dane would care that Jack was harassing me, but after the past few weeks, I wasn’t completely sure. I didn’t want to stick around to find out.

Another two weeks passed after the incident at the club, and for the most part, I’d been feeling better than ever because I was finally able to sleep peacefully at night.

Dane never stayed in my room longer than it took for both of us to get off, but the orgasms he gave me exhausted me to the point that I could sink into a peaceful sleep without a recurrence of the nightmares that used to wake me up in a cold and dreadful sweat.

I was thankful to him for the restful nights, even if he was using me in the process. I had to hand it to Dane. Since we started sleeping together, he hadn’t brought home some slutty girl from the club. I wasn’t sure if it was because he knew he would get some at home, or if he was being respectful of the fact that it would hurt me to hear him screwing someone else on the other side of my bedroom wall. I hated to admit that hearing him with someone else would bother me. I didn’t want to feel that way, but it wasn’t something I could help and I knew it.

My bus pulled up to the front of the school and Carly stood by the bus stop wearing baggy clothes and a painful expression twisting her normally adorable face.

Climbing down the stairwell of the bus, I gave her a funny look as I approached her. “Damn woman. Are you feeling sick or something?”

She glared at me, her arms wrapping her abdomen. “Why didn’t you warn me this was coming? You know I use you as a calendar.”

Confusion clouded my thoughts and I asked, “Warn you about what? How was I supposed to know you’d get sick? Is it a stomach thing or something? Maybe you should go home.”

Her eyes narrowed and she glared at me as I started walking towards my first class. “It’s my period, Luna. You know, the thing you always get a few days before me and warn me about so I can stock up on supplies? I’m out of my painkillers and the cramps feel like they’re about to rip me apart.”
