Chapter 39
Chapter 39
Joshua had read the examination report of Anika and knew that she had severe depression.
He learned about this disease. It could lead to memory loss, but the patient wouldn't forget someone!!
They had known each other for over a decade!
Joshua remained silent. Anika looked at him and asked, "Did you hurt me before? Why don't I remember you?"
Joshua felt as if he was stabbed by something.
He said coldly, "Don't overthink it. We met by chance."
Joshua understood. Since Anika wanted to pretend, he would satisfy her.
Anyway, he never felt that they were a couple.
Joshua had someone sign a cooperation contract with Anika.
Then he went back to his office.
He started smoking non-stop again.
"Did you hurt me before? Why don't I remember you?"
Thinking of this, Joshua had a tight feeling in his chest.
When Payton walked in, the office was smoky.
Since Anika disappeared four years ago, Joshua had been smoking a lot.
Why did he still smoke after Anika came back?
"No matter what method you use, I must know what happened to Anika in the past four years!" Joshua looked at Payton.
Payton was stunned. "I sent someone to investigate it before but didn't find anything. Her information abroad has always been strictly confidential."
"Mobilize the overseas force to investigate it!"
Joshua's words once again shocked Payton.
He knew well what the overseas force was. Apart from competing for the head of the Conan family, Joshua had never used it.
But Joshua intended to use it to check Anika's information.
Payton dared not ask why and could only follow the order.
"Yes. I will contact the people over there now."

It had been four years. Most of the people at the headquarters of the Conan Group did not know Anika, so her arrival didn't attract much attention.
Anika went back.
She asked the driver to drive her to the cemetery in the West Suburban Cemetery.
She bought a bunch of white daisies as usual and placed them in front of her father's grave.
"Dad, I'm sorry I didn't come back to see you until now."
Anika was much calmer than before.
Standing alone in front of the tombstone, she gently recounted everything that had happened over the years.
"I wanted to bring Evan and William back to see you. But I was afraid that Joshua and the people of the Conan family would find them and take them away from me, so I had to leave them abroad...
"I know you won't blame me..."
Anika knew better than anyone else how badly the Conan family wanted a grandson.
She dared not take risks with Evan and William.
Just then, the phone rang. Anika took it out. It was from Luciano.
"Ms. Carey, someone is coming."
"Okay."
Anika hung up the phone and was about to leave.
Then she saw a familiar figure at the end of the road.
Valentin was dressed in a well-cut suit, holding a large bouquet of daisies in his hand. He stood straight in the distance. His gaze was firmly fixed on Anika, and he didn't look away for a long time.
Anika was stunned for a moment, but soon she calmed down.
She approached Valentin step by step in high heels.
Valentin stood still. He felt the daisies in his hand suddenly became heavy.
He was greatly shocked, feeling like he was in a dream.
Unlike Joshua, he had long accepted the fact that Anika passed away.
Today was Kenyon's death anniversary. To atone for his sins, Valentin came to visit him on behalf of Anika.
To his surprise, Anika didn't die! She appeared right in front of him!!
