Delete My Billionaire Husband

Chapter 22

Chapter 22

The phone screen flickered incessantly in the dark, notifications chiming one after another.

Sebastian Kingsley rubbed his temples wearily. The screen was flooded with photos and leads sent by netizens—some credible, others dubious.

"The reward money really drew a crowd," he muttered bitterly. Even with a professional team filtering the information, the workload was overwhelming.

He regretted the decision somewhat. But he had no other choice.

Life without Annabelle Whitmore was like a fish out of water. Every day was agony.

"Mr. Kingsley!" His assistant suddenly messaged. "Someone spotted Miss Whitmore in front of a church in City B, America!"

He straightened abruptly, fingers trembling slightly.

"Arrange the flight immediately," he replied, his voice hoarse.

During the long flight, he forced himself to work through documents. His eyes burned with exhaustion, but he didn’t dare close them.

The moment the plane landed, he grabbed his coat and rushed out—unaware that at another boarding gate in the terminal, Annabelle was dragging her suitcase onto a departing flight.

Fate had played another cruel joke on them.

At a hotel near the church, the receptionist shook her head apologetically. "The Chinese guest checked out this morning."

Sebastian froze.

"Just a few hours too late..." he murmured.

As he stepped outside, the setting sun in City B stretched his shadow long and lonely. A wave of desolation crashed over him.

He remembered the day he first met Annabelle. She had stood by the café’s floor-to-ceiling window, sunlight gilding her silhouette.

Back then, he hadn’t known he could love someone this madly.

"If only I'd known..." he whispered to the empty street, his words dissolving into the wind.
