Ended My Six-Year Relationship with a Cheater

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

"Oli, don't look at me like that, please don't..." His voice cracked, eyes red and desperate, like a child on the verge of tears. I couldn't help but scoff. "Oh? How exactly do you want me to look at you? Let's be real, Landon, right now, you're even worse than trash."

I quickly covered my mouth, imitating Brittany's playful tone. "Oh, I guess that sounds a bit harsh, huh?"

Landon's laugh was laced with tears as he hunched his shoulders, trying to pull himself together. "I get it, but I'm not giving up, Oli. When we meet again, I'll still be your favorite boy."

With a defeated slump, he staggered off, but I called out, "Wait."

He turned around, his eyes lighting up with a glimmer of hope, but I added, "Take your garbage with you."

Confusion spread across his face as he looked around, finally noticing the blood and gravel smeared across his own skin. The disappointment was obvious, washing over him in waves of regret.

He turned back, grabbed Brittany's wrist, and yanked her forward, completely oblivious to her sprained foot. After a few steps, she tripped and fell to the ground, letting out a pained scream. Landon frowned in disgust, mirroring the same contempt he once had for me, and kept dragging her along. Brittany's cries echoed in the distance long after they disappeared, and their chaos shattered any enjoyment I could have gotten from the opera.

Later, sitting in the hospital while tending to the cuts on my hand, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret. Eugene, ever the source of amusement, turned to me with a grin. Without missing a beat, he called the opera troupe and arranged for them to extend their performance by another two days, turning it into a three-day event.

When we returned, I made sure to thank Eugene for his thoughtfulness. He locked the car door, stopping me from getting out. "I'm committed, unlike those rotten eggplants who don't know how to value themselves."

I blinked, puzzled by his unexpected words. With a quiet sigh, he finally unlocked the door. As I stepped out, I heard his soft voice behind me. "I don't want to just pretend. That would make me really unhappy."

I stumbled slightly, nearly losing my balance, and quickly hurried into the house.

Two months later, I heard that Landon had completely lost his grip on reality. After our breakup, he neglected his company, consumed by a frantic search for his old self. He was often seen wandering the streets, sitting by the side of the road, tugging at his hair while muttering, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that to you."

Brittany tried to intervene, but Landon ended up seriously injured and had to be admitted to the hospital. After being discharged, Brittany couldn't cope with her own disfigurement and pressured him to marry her. But Landon vehemently refused, throwing insults at her and declaring that the only person he would ever marry was me.

Out of rage from his rejection, Brittany took matters into her own hands. When Landon went out searching for his former self, she floored the gas pedal and ran him down. Though he survived, the accident left him with a permanent disability, his leg amputated. His anguished screams echoed throughout the day. The next morning, he had his family withdraw the lawsuit and took Brittany out of the police station.

Just three days later, they held a lavish wedding, though there were no guests, only reporters filling the hall. Landon never came to see me again. He was forever trapped in his obsession with trying to reclaim the boy he used to be.

When I heard the news, I cracked open a cold beer to celebrate, a sense of excitement and relief flooding through me. Under the starry sky, I impulsively kissed another young man on the cheek, caught up in the moment.

That sweet night quickly turned bittersweet when Eloise confronted me, cradling her one-month-old baby in her arms. "Olive, you have no honor! You've stolen a house!"

I shrugged, a wry smile creeping across my face. "I didn't want to, but he insists I belong to him!"

Life is a funny thing: enemies can turn into best friends, and brothers can become husbands. The remnants of old love may fade, but the journey is long, and new seeds of love will always find their place again.
