Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Panic washed over Derek's face as he pleaded, "Lily, this is all a big misunderstanding. I was tricked. Can you forgive me this one time?"
Alex, seeing Derek's desperation, threw the divorce agreement I had prepared right at him.
"Just sign it. Stop pretending to be sorry."
"You know Lily's character. Once she makes up her mind, there's no changing it!"
After hearing the truth, Derek's parents finally spoke up for him, but it was too late.
I scoffed and cut them off, "Enough! There's no point in saying any more." It was all too late.
I let out a cold laugh and interrupted, "Enough! There's no point in saying any of this now."
That day, Derek's family, along with Chloe, were kicked out of my house.
I got in touch with the property management and added those four people to the blacklist of visitors. I didn't want to see any of them at my door again.
Once I had that sorted, I left the country with Alex that night.
This wasn't a vacation.
Alex offered to help me break into the jewelry industry I had always dreamed of.
He knew I had a passion for drawing since childhood and a natural talent for design.
However, being the only daughter meant my family expected me to focus on business. I was meant to take over the family business.
Design had become little more than a hobby over the years.
When Derek was running the company, I had brought up my desire to enter the jewelry market several times, but he always shot me down.
Derek even dismissed my ideas as trivial, claiming it was just a niche industry for the wealthy elite.
His pride was immense. Aside from the annual company meeting, he rarely allowed me to attend any other gatherings.
His reasoning was that if both of us managed the company, it would confuse the staff.
I respected his viewpoint, so I never pushed the issue further.
Yesterday, I had only mentioned this to Alex briefly, and he immediately began making arrangements.
On the flight, he thoughtfully brought me snacks and earplugs.
He remembered that I preferred quiet and would often doze off in cars and on planes.
After we landed, I found dozens of missed calls on my phone.
There were also several messages from my assistant, informing me that Derek had created a scene outside my company, even drawing media attention.
Seeing my frown, Alex quickly grabbed my phone.
He stepped aside to give instructions, then turned to me and said, "Leave the messy stuff to me next time."
That simple statement made my heart flutter.
It's worth noting that after marrying Derek, I had been left to handle many issues at home.
There were times when I had a high fever and needed Derek to take me to the hospital, but he was either away on business or claimed to be too tired, sending Mrs. Wilson with me instead.
Even regarding our lack of children, I had asked him multiple times to accompany me for check-ups, but he always had some work excuse.
The stigma of infertility weighed heavily on me, even though my annual gynecological exams showed I had no issues.
I had nurtured Derek's feelings for years, only to end up like this, feeling very bitter.
After we landed in Singapore, Alex introduced me to several renowned designers, and we reached a preliminary cooperation agreement.
