He Kills My Mother for Her Beach House

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

But I remained calm as I finished my sentence. "As long as you bring my mother back to me."

The light in his eyes instantly faded. Jacob knelt there, motionless.

I opened the door, then slammed it shut, leaving him standing outside.

He didn't leave. I didn't open the door again.

Night fell. The bitter winter wind howled outside, but Jacob seemed oblivious, still kneeling beneath my window, unmoving.

Passersby took notice and, out of curiosity, started recording videos. The footage quickly spread online, gaining traction fast.

The news went viral. Soon, people started recognizing him, and before I knew it, I was once again thrust into the public eye.

"Jacob kneels for forgiveness late at night, beware of the ruthless wife!"

"No wonder Jacob abandoned his true love to marry Juliana. This woman clearly has tricks up her sleeve."

"Does she have something on him? There's no way he'd act like this otherwise."

I let out a bitter laugh, turned off my phone, and went to bed.

After everything I'd been through, those insults no longer had the power to sting.

Outside, the wind howled. I pulled my blanket tighter around me.

I had to take care of myself, just like Mom always told me. If I caught a cold, my back would ache.

The next morning, when I stepped outside for breakfast, I saw Jacob was still there.

He hadn't moved all night.

But now, unlike the night before, a crowd had gathered to watch.

Jacob slowly lifted his head. His face was a mask of desperation as he pleaded, "Juli, please, give me another chance."

"I can give up everything, my pride, my wealth, even my body. I just want you."

I walked up to him and spat coldly, "Jacob, this self-torture of yours? It's just a way for you to feel better about yourself."

"You think that by suffering physically, you can atone for your guilt?"

"I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in playing this game with you."

"Leave. I'll never forgive you."

"But if you enjoy kneeling, then go ahead. It doesn't matter to me."

Jacob looked at me with deep sorrow, his eyes pleading.

Just then, his assistant rushed over, panic etched on his face. "Mr. Williams, bad news, it's a court summons!"

Jacob froze, and the crowd fell silent.

The assistant handed him a thin piece of paper. "Wendy is suing you."

"She submitted chat records as evidence, claiming you promised her all of your wealth. Now she's demanding you fulfill that promise."

Jacob's fingers tightened around the paper, his veins bulging in fury. He swayed slightly, forcing himself to stand, then turned to me.

"Juli, once I take care of this, I'll come back for you."

"Wait for me."

With the help of his assistant, he limped toward a waiting luxury car.

I noticed his back was slightly hunched.

I wasn't sure if it was from kneeling too long or from the crushing weight of realizing his so-called true love's real nature.

I didn't care about Jacob. But as one of the country's most powerful businessmen, every move he made became headline news.

From scattered reports, I learned how the case was progressing.

Because of Jacob's status, the trial was open to the public. The courtroom was packed with reporters.

On the witness stand, Wendy spoke passionately, recounting the details of her relationship with Jacob.

She displayed their entire chat history, exposing even the most intimate and shameless messages without hesitation.

With unwavering confidence, she demanded Jacob keep his word, and transfer the entire Vertex Corporation to her.
