Chapter 16
Chapter 16
I went back and discussed it with Lucas, and he agreed.
So on Sunday, Lucas took me back to the family mansion for dinner. Emma was there too.
As soon as we entered, Vivian's mood was very low.
She pretended not to see us, constantly talking to Emma.
I was already used to her being like this, so I didn't mind.
Lucas held my hand and announced firmly.
"Mom, I'm going to marry Aria."
It was a notification, not a discussion.
Vivian was stunned, the cup in her hand falling to the ground and shattering.
She glared at me angrily, about to scold us.
Emma quickly supported her and said gently:
"Auntie, don't be angry. She's pregnant, that's why Lucas is in a hurry to get married."
"Pregnant? How is that possible!"
Vivian's eyes widened, even angrier:
"Aria, you vixen, how dare you! Didn't I tell you..."
"Mom, don't talk about her like that!" Lucas frowned and stopped her.
"You're even protecting her!"
Vivian was so angry she wanted to scold him too.
Emma took out the pregnancy test she had photoshopped.
She had simply changed her name to mine.
"Auntie, look, it's already two months along."
"..."
Vivian looked at the test paper with a pale face, her hand shaking.
Her furious gaze swept over to me, and I lowered my eyes, feeling inexplicably guilty.
"Auntie, don't be so agitated. We went to the temple and had it read. This child is very lucky, and it's likely to be a boy.
"You wouldn't want the Smith family's first grandson to grow up as an outsider, would you? That would be quite embarrassing if people found out."
Emma kept brainwashing her, hitting her weak spot.
Vivian calmed down and glanced at my stomach.
She seemed somewhat disappointed.
The living room fell silent.
After a long silence, she sighed and said to the housekeeper:
"For dinner, add an extra pair of chopsticks."
