Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Then Sabrina came back.
That day, Chelsea had just finished work when she spotted Magnus waiting by the office gate. She sighed and turned to take a different route, hoping to dodge him completely. But out of nowhere, a speeding car came barreling straight toward her.
"Look out!" Magnus shouted from behind.
Before she could react, something—someone—slammed into her, warm and solid. The screech of brakes pierced the night, and when she finally opened her eyes, she found herself cradled in Magnus's arms.
"You okay?" he asked breathlessly, one hand rubbing her back in slow, soothing circles.
Before Chelsea could answer, the car door flew open—and out stepped a woman.
"Chelsea, why? Why do you always survive?!"
Sabrina.
Her eyes burned with rage as she stormed forward. Before anyone could stop her, she swung her hand and struck Chelsea hard across the face.
"Sabrina? What the hell?!" Magnus paled as recognition hit.
She let out a bitter laugh. "Surprised? I'm already out. Didn't take long, did it? I told you—I said I'd make you both pay."
As she spoke, she yanked a knife from her bag and lunged at Chelsea.
But Magnus was faster. In one fluid motion, he caught her wrist, twisted the blade from her grip, and pinned her arms behind her back.
"I don't know how you got out," he said coldly, "but this time, I'll make sure you stay locked up for good."
Sabrina's face twisted. "You can't do this to me, Magnus. I'm carrying your child—your flesh and blood!"
In the hospital hallway, Sabrina sat curled in a corner, arms wrapped protectively around her stomach. She rocked back and forth, whispering to herself.
"Hahaha… Magnus, you can't send me back. I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant with your baby. Be good, baby. Mommy's okay. Daddy's not mad anymore."
Watching her—broken, unhinged—Chelsea couldn't name what she felt. Not pity. Not anger. Just… disbelief.
How had this woman, once so fierce and proud, ended up like this?
She glanced at Magnus, then at the medical report in his hand.
"Take care of her, Magnus," she said quietly.
And just like that, he left with Sabrina.
He vanished as silently as he'd entered her life.
Everything returned to normal.
Chelsea threw herself into work, running the company day in and day out. And through it all, Alaric made sure she knew exactly how he felt—no games, no hesitation, his heart laid bare.
