Leave the Wrong Man, Marry the Right Love

Chapter 11

Chapter 11

I eventually found out why Harrison hadn't shown up on our wedding day. He'd been locked away by his family and left without food for three days. When he found out I'd moved abroad with Ethan, he ended up seriously sick. By the time he recovered, he completely unraveled. Freed from any kind of control, he threw himself into a hedonistic lifestyle, living it up in bars and indulging in anything and everything. I only heard about it through our mutual friends, who always ended those conversations with a sigh. It was hard to believe how we went from being inseparable childhood sweethearts to barely being able to tolerate each other.

Two years into our marriage, I had our son, Nathan. For his one-month celebration, we invited a lot of our old friends. As the party wound down and the last few guests trickled out, I noticed the table piled high with gifts. I thought of the familiar face I'd seen earlier and couldn't help but smile. I started organizing the presents, knowing full well that if I didn't, someone would definitely make a scene about it.
