Love Is Out of Balance

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

After saying that, I turned and walked out. The only reason I was still at Xavier's house was because I wanted him to sign the divorce papers here. Our marriage had started in this very house, and I wanted it to end here, too. But these past few days, he'd been out with Nicole, wasting time. I knew he was stalling on purpose. Xavier had always been like this, selfish to the core. He wanted to keep me hanging on with my deep love and patience, while at the same time, he couldn't let go of Nicole. As expected, he didn't come home until it was dark.

I called him multiple times and sent several texts, but he didn't answer. Just then, I saw a post from Nicole on Instagram: "This man is so impatient. He can't wait to get home from work. Wants to do it in the office..." The photo showed Nicole wearing black stockings, seductively posing at the conference table in Xavier's office. And there was a hand on her stockings. No doubt, it was Xavier.

My anger flared. He hadn't come home after work because he was too busy getting it on in the office. Meanwhile, I had been sitting here, waiting for him to come back and sign the divorce papers. I glanced at the clock. Xavier's office closed at seven. A bold idea suddenly crossed my mind, and I called the front desk of his company.

"Amy, Mr. Walsh's phone is dead, and he wants to call an urgent meeting for all employees. Please notify everyone to go to the conference room right away. Mr. Walsh will personally lead the meeting. Everyone must attend."

Amy knew me well, so she didn't question it. I hung up and rushed to the study to turn on the computer Xavier left on his desk. He rarely used it, only for monitoring the company when he was home. He probably never thought I'd be using it to stream his scandal live. I quickly activated the camera in the conference room, and sure enough, Xavier and Nicole were already going at it. By the time the employees arrived, things were getting heated.

I noticed the computer was logged into Xavier's company account, which he used for promoting their products. I hit "Go Live" and started the broadcast. Immediately, people flooded into the chat with questions:

"What's going on? Is this the Walsh Group's account? What's happening here?"

"Wow, that's Mr. Walsh, right? Is that his secretary? And they're doing it in the conference room?"

"This is too much. Who did this? Does Mr. Walsh know?"

Meanwhile, I could see hundreds of employees gathering outside the conference room. Amy tried to maintain order but couldn't hide her shock as she opened the door. The moment she saw what was happening inside, Nicole screamed and pushed Xavier away, jumping off the table. Xavier didn't realize what was happening until he turned and saw the horrified faces of all the employees. His eyes widened in panic, and it took him a few moments to react.

"Get out! Get out of here!" he shouted, covering himself up.

Amy, leading the group, slammed the door behind her. Within minutes, the live stream had over a hundred thousand viewers, many of them laughing at his expense. Some Walsh Group partners were furious.

"What kind of company is this? How can we continue working with you after this disgrace?"

"We're ending all future partnerships! This is unacceptable!"

"Xavier, you're an idiot. Your company's ruined. Shut it down already!"

An hour later, news outlets were picking up the story: "Walsh Group CEO Caught Having Sex with Secretary in Conference Room". Gossip from alleged employees flooded social media.

"We all knew about Xavier and Nicole, but never thought it would come to this!"

"I've seen them getting too close in the office before. It's disgusting."

"Grace is divorcing him. Good for her. I'd have left him long ago!"

I watched as the company's market value plummeted by hundreds of millions in just one hour. People were throwing eggs at the building. Nicole's past was dug up, and she was scorned online. Photos of her with different men during college surfaced, fueling the fire even more.

Sitting calmly at home, I poured myself a glass of red wine and waited for Xavier to call. My phone rang soon enough. His furious voice was the first thing I heard.

"Grace, you're fucking insane! You're going to destroy me! Just wait, I won't let you get away with this!"

I listened quietly, sipping my wine, before responding coldly, "Come back and sign. I'll wait for you."

"I'm stuck at home with thugs surrounding me. Don't play these games with me. I know you're trying to force me to give up Nicole, trying to make me compromise. You love me, don't you? How could you divorce me?" he raged.

With a slam, he hung up. I sighed, realizing he wouldn't be coming back tonight. I looked at the divorce papers on the table and decided I couldn't wait any longer. I grabbed my suitcase, took one last look at the house, and walked out.

Xavier, I will never see you again. You damn scumbag.
