Chapter 41 Not a Serious Man
Chapter 41 Not a Serious Man
After finishing the meal, Grace went back to her uncle's house.
It seemed like they had gone out, and there was no one in the house. Grace then returned to her own room, took out her computer, and started organizing her files and documents.
It was past ten o'clock when Jovanny finally came back from outside. It seemed like he also had work to deal with in the evening, so Grace got up with her laptop and gave him her seat.
"You can have a seat," she said to him.
Jovanny glanced at her and took off his coat. Grace, with keen eyesight, went up and took the coat from him to hang it up.
He also sat down without politeness, turned on the computer, and prepared to work.
Grace sat beside him, hesitatingly opening her mouth, "Jovanny, there's something I wanted to talk to you about."
"Go ahead." Jovanny logged into his email and received a few emails.
Grace paused, pondering how to speak up.
After a while, she finally said, "You know... yesterday, didn't you say that we could end this marriage if either of us found someone we liked?"
Jovanny's hands paused on the keyboard, and a hint of gloom flashed in his eyes. He looked coldly at Grace and asked, "Do you have someone you like?"
Grace waved her hand repeatedly, "No, no, I just wanted to say, in case you ever find someone you like, you must tell me."
Jovanny didn't understand why she would ask such a question, but still nodded, "Naturally."
"I can rest assured then. Anyway, don't hide anything from me for certain reasons. Actually, I am a very open-minded person and have a strong acceptance of things. No matter what your plans are, we can discuss them."
Jovanny always felt that there was something more to her words, but even he couldn't guess what Grace was trying to express for the time being.
After a moment of contemplation, he hesitantly asked, "Are you worried that I have been keeping it a secret from you and being with someone else?"
Grace looked a bit embarrassed, and she awkwardly touched her nose. "Well, I guess so. I don't mind you being with someone else, but you have to tell me first, so I can be mentally prepared."
"Why do you suddenly want to talk about these things?"
Of course, just in case, if he got married just to have better relationships with men, wouldn't she be a lesbian?
This was something she couldn't tell him naturally. Grace coughed and put away her computer. "Let's just chat casually. I'm going to take a shower first."
After knowing that he was most likely a homosexual, Grace relaxed a lot. She no longer felt shy when taking a shower in front of him.
Wearing her pajamas, lying in bed, she did whatever she wanted to do. She played with her phone, binge-watched TV shows, and read materials without feeling stressed anymore.
Of course, Jovanny also noticed this subtle change.
Every time he was in the bedroom before, she would hide under the covers pretending to sleep. But today, she was actually leaning against the headboard playing with her phone.
But he still doesn't know what important information he missed.
Grace finished looking at her phone and naturally fell asleep. In the middle of the night, she felt Jovanny getting into bed.
Though briefly startled, she quickly calmed down and went back to sleep.
It turned out that Jovanny indeed had no feelings for her, Grace thought, and she might have gained a sister now.
She held onto a vague idea and even had a dream. In the dream, she was actually painting nail polish on Jovanny, and he was doing the same for her!
When Jovanny lifted the pink nail and smiled at her, she was startled awake.
Grace stared at the ceiling, with cold sweat dripping down her forehead.
That was so scary. How could I have had such a bizarre dream?
Grace quickly got up and made breakfast, while Jovanny was punctual and returned when she finished making breakfast.
He was still wearing sportswear, with his chest soaked in sweat, and his abs were faintly visible.
Looking at his stern face again, Grace would be reminded of the images in her dreams, and she couldn't help but shudder.
Grace told herself not to speculate, as it was all just guesswork. She needed confirmation to know whether he was really gay or not.
Grace hurriedly had breakfast and sent him to the company.
After he got off the electric bike, Grace didn't hurry to leave. She parked the electric bike by the roadside and secretly observed him.
He walked into the building carrying a briefcase, and just as he was about to enter, Brenden appeared from somewhere.
Brenden appeared sneakily behind him and skillfully reached out his hands - pinching Jovanny's waist! Just like how Jovanny would hold onto her waist from behind when riding her electric bike.
Grace's eyes widened in an instant!
Which decent man would go and hug another man's waist?
Jovanny shook him off, but Brenden still didn't give up. He hooked Jovanny's shoulder again, and the two of them whispered to each other.
Finally, Jovanny paused, furrowed his brows, and gave him a glare. Brenden laughed heartily and let go of him, allowing him to go inside.
Grace covered her mouth, and her heart instantly sank to the bottom of the valley.
Oh no, it turned out he indeed had some issues with his sexual orientation, and he probably had some unclear relationship with Mr. Sturt.
Grace felt that her values had been shaken. She hopped on an electric bike in a daze, not knowing how to get to the company.
Allyson had instructed them to arrive at the department fifteen minutes early, but Grace was still two minutes late.
Just when she arrived, there were still a few who hadn't come yet, and Allyson couldn't find a reason to complain.
When the rest of them arrived, Allyson frowned and said, "What's the matter with you guys? You're always late, ignoring what I say, huh?"
Doris complained, "Ms. Juarez, the traffic was so congested on the way, and my home is so far away."
Allyson glared at her and said, "Don't give me excuses. Wouldn't leaving home earlier help, even if the distance is far? Forget about Grace, she has to send her husband to work, but do you also have to go and send your husband to work?"
This statement sounds like an excuse for Grace, but it actually exposes her. Now everyone knows that she has a poor husband and she has to send him to work every day.
"No way? Grace, does your husband not even have a car?" Doris asked in astonishment.
Grace tugged at the corner of her mouth, forcing out an awkward smile, and did not respond to Doris' words.
"Why did you have to take him to work? Doesn't he know the way himself?"
"What do you understand? It's just having a good relationship, what's wrong with giving each other rides to work?"
A male colleague pursed his lips and said, "If anyone should give gifts, it should be husbands giving them to their wives. If I had a girlfriend, I wouldn't let her give me gifts. I can't afford to lose that person."
Allyson saw that everyone had almost finished mocking, so she raised her hand to interrupt the crowd's discussion, "Alright, stop discussing now, let's have a meeting."
"Last month, our electronic devices, circuit boards, electronic measuring instruments, and semiconductors had made significant breakthroughs. The company decided to incorporate these devices into hardware development."
"Our department needed to constantly monitor the movements of the R&D department, keep track of their development progress, and gather product information in order to better expand our business."
"Additionally, there is another matter. Our company has now established a partnership with S&C. I won't disclose the specifics, but they will be sending people over to make some adjustments to our company. Therefore, there will be a series of changes in terms of positions and operations."
