Alexander held Olivia close, but his eyes never left the upstairs window, my window.

It was deliberate. Almost like he wanted me to see him holding her.

As soon as he spoke, Olivia's face lit up like Christmas morning.

"Really?" she gasped. "You're really letting me move into the Holt estate?"

The Holt estate wasn't just any house, it was the Holt family's ancestral home. Only blood relatives had ever lived there.

Alexander's words didn't just mean a change of address.

They meant marriage.

To Olivia, who'd spent years chasing the Holt name, it was everything she'd ever wanted.

Alexander gave a slow nod, his tone laced with something unreadable. "Of course. You've been such a good girl."

Before Olivia could swoon or respond, his voice dropped lower, colder.

"This place is my personal sanctuary. If it weren't for you, your little entourage wouldn't be walking out of here alive."

He said it like he was commenting on the weather.

But the effect was instant, every person standing behind Olivia went pale.

They'd all heard the stories. Alexander Holt didn't bluff. He didn't give second chances.

He smiled faintly as Olivia clung to him even tighter.

"I knew it," she whispered. "I knew you loved me most."

His lips quirked up in a smirk, and he leaned in to whisper in her ear.

"Wanna know what I love most about you?"

Olivia looked up, eyes wide and shining. "What?"

He tilted her chin up with maddening gentleness, then kissed her deeply, slow, intense, possessive.

Pulling back just enough to speak, he murmured:

"It's when you say you love me… with that face."

The flush that swept over Olivia's cheeks was instant. Her whole body seemed to melt into his.

Then, as if remembering something, her eyes lit up again.

"Oh! Right!" she said, practically bouncing.

She rushed across the courtyard, grabbed me by the arm, and dragged my body forward like she was presenting a prize.

"Baby," she said proudly, "this is the plastic surgery freak who tried to sneak in. Don't worry, I took care of her for you."
