My Double Kills Me, So My Husband Kills Her

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

The top medical experts from across the country had gathered under one roof.

Every face wore the same expression, deep, tense worry.

Outside the emergency room, Alexander stood like a statue, eyes locked on the closed double doors. His fists were clenched, his tailored shirt stained with blood and dirt.

Behind him stood Olivia and her entourage, watching in uneasy silence.

A lead surgeon finally stepped out, his face pale, scrubs soaked in sweat. He hesitated, then looked at Alexander with a helpless sigh.

"Mr. Holt… I'm sorry. She's already, "

He didn't get to finish.

Alexander lunged forward, grabbed him by the collar, and slammed his head against the wall with a sickening thud.

"I promised to protect her," Alexander growled, voice low and trembling with rage. "How the hell could she be dead?"

His eyes blazed. "If she dies, none of you walk out of here alive."

Blood trickled down the surgeon's forehead, but he nodded frantically, wiped his face with trembling hands, and stumbled back into the ER without another word.

Behind him, the team scrambled to keep trying, because none of them dared disobey Alexander Holt when he looked like this.

Further back in the corridor, Olivia's friends gathered in a hushed circle, nervously watching the scene unfold.

"Is it just me, or does Mr. Holt seem really invested in that woman?" one whispered.

"Yeah, I mean… he dug up her grave with his bare hands, rushed her here, and now he's threatening doctors to keep her alive?" another muttered.

"Who is she to him?"

"Do you think he'll come after us next?"

Olivia lifted her chin, brushing imaginary dust off her designer coat, and gave a soft, smug laugh.

"Relax. Alex adores me too much to ever lay a finger on me."

"That woman? Probably just some kept mistress he stashed away in the villa. Men get sentimental sometimes. It'll pass."

"I'll comfort him later, and everything will go back to normal."

Her friends nodded, visibly relieved.

"You're right," one said. "Even at his angriest, he only took it out on the doctor and that bodyguard. He hasn't said one bad word to you."

"Exactly. He clearly favors you, Olivia. That woman means nothing."

"She's not even in the same league as you, probably couldn't compare to your little finger."

Encouraged by their words, Olivia's confidence swelled. She softened her voice, stepped closer to Alexander, and gently tugged at his sleeve.

"Alex…" she said sweetly, lips trembling ever so slightly. "She kept trying to come between us."

"She claimed she was your wife. That I was just her substitute. Can you believe that?"

"That's why I told the others to teach her a lesson. I never meant for things to go so far. I didn't know she'd be so… fragile."

"I just… I love you so much. I was scared of losing you."

She blinked up at him, eyes wide, voice tender and innocent.

"You don't blame me, do you… Alex?"
