My Sweet, Tyrant Lycan Mate

Chapter Fourteen

Chapter Fourteen

Temporary Bliss

Lily’s POV

When I woke up the next morning, I saw that the Lycan King wasn’t next to me. I figured maybe that he had some important business or just needed time alone.

I continued to lay in bed as I thought about what happened yesterday after the fighting tournament. I felt my cheeks start to get hot again.

On one hand, I hated the pain that came with experiencing what it was like living with the Fire Wolf. If anything, it made me more sympathetic to the Lycan King’s problems.

Hell, if it were me that had to put up with the Fire Wolf, I’m not entirely sure if I’d still be here…

It was hands down the worst pain I ever experienced and I hoped to the Goddess I would never have to know that kind of pain again.

But on the other hand…

The way he touched me and kissed me… Goddess, it was the hottest thing.

Just thinking about his hands over my body and his hard lips against mine started to make my body hot. I knew it was the side effect of the heightened senses of the Fire Wolf but I still couldn’t get over how good it made me feel.

Goddess, listen to yourself! Getting all worked up over the Lycan King of all people!

Still, there’s no denying he’s attractive… I just wish he wasn’t so excited by violence.

Thinking about our hot and steamy encounter yesterday made me want to go jump into our pool. I grabbed a towel and extra clothes and decided to go cool off my body and compose myself.

The pool was old-fashioned in the way it was built, but it was very beautiful. The whole thing was built from stone, and its floor was also made out of black stones, making it look like you were floating above a bottomless pit.

I took a seat at the edge of the pool as I dipped my toes in. Then I submerged my legs. The combination of the warm day and cool water helped calm my nerves and thoughts from yesterday.

I let out a comfortable sigh and began to gently sway my feet under the water. My body finally relaxed and I was at ease.

However, my peace was suddenly interrupted by an eruption coming from the pool water, followed by a huge amount of water splashing onto me like stormy waves crashing into huge rocks.

“Oh my god! What was that?”

I rubbed my eyes to get the water out of them and was half-expecting to see Cerberus in the pool. I was surprised to see that it was the Lycan King instead.

He hopped out of the pool to take a sip of his drink and I couldn’t stop myself from admiring his looks. This was the first time that I got a real look at him.

The water glistened off of his strong and muscular body. He was tall, had broad shoulders, and a slim waist with a dominant v-shape accentuating his abs. His dark shaggy hair was soaked and framed his chiseled jawline.

It was like I was staring at one of those marbled statues of a Greek god.

Gawking at his body was enough to remind me about yesterday as my heart began to flutter. Seeing him now all exposed and looking hot made me nervous, so I decided to try and play off like I was going inside.

“I… I’m gonna go lay down for a little bit, okay? I’ve been out here for a while.”

His eyes never left mine but he never responded.

I walked to the table where I had my towel but before I could grab it, the Lycan King was already behind me as he wrapped his hands around my waist. His touch was so gentle that it shocked me and I ended up allowing him to guide me back into the pool.

He took my hands in his and pulled me under the water. After just a few seconds, I could feel my chest tighten from losing oxygen. I was starting to panic.

It was then that the Lycan King pressed his lips against mine. When he parted my lips with his tongue, he ended up exhaling some oxygen into my system.

I blinked my eyes at him in disbelief as a smirk curled on his lips. I then rose back up above the water so I could regain my breathing.

When the Lycan King emerged from the water, he leaned against the wall of the pool. Though his expression seemed to be indifferent to what just happened, I couldn’t mistake the sparkle in his eye, and the hint of amusement on his lips.

This was his third time kissing me and honestly, him showcasing any type of affection was still so new and shocking. Feeling embarrassed, I decided to splash water on him to make the shyness go away.

The Lycan King looked at me in shock. “Oh, you’re going to regret that.”

He then proceeded to splash me back.

A huge grin spread across my face as I continued to splash him. I swam a few feet away to put distance between us so he couldn’t get me again.

That was when he dove under the water. The black stone floors made it hard for me to see him. After a few seconds, he emerged from the water, grabbing me by my legs, and lifting me out the water.

We both shared a laugh as he tossed me back into the water. I came above the water to hear him laughing.

Is that the Lycan King laughing out of joy?

I smiled as we continued to splash and play. It was an overall wholesome experience that I was happy the Lycan King seemed to enjoy.

And although he was smiling and laughing, I couldn’t help but think there was a sadness behind his eyes.

I was told at a young age you could always tell if someone was genuinely happy and smiling by looking at their eyes. If their eyes didn’t curve up as their lips did, they weren’t really happy.

A sudden pang shot through my chest but I continued to be happy enough for the both of us. I didn’t want to ruin the wonderful day he seemed to be having by asking too many questions.

I’ll help you figure this out… I promise.
