Chapter 13: Have You Slept with Him?

Chapter 13: Have You Slept with Him?

In the end, Sophia took the bag he handed her.

In public, Christopher maintained the perfect facade of a stranger—polished and professional during script readings and their scenes together. He kept a careful distance, close enough to be considerate but never crossing the line.

For instance, when language barriers caused misunderstandings between Sophia and the German or French actresses, he always appeared just in time to smooth things over. Or when the rigorous training conditions left little room for comfort, he somehow ensured she still got her favorite meals.

She had planned everything meticulously after faking her death, but reality had a way of throwing curveballs. Christopher became her unexpected lifeline—explaining the script in depth, guiding her through the unfamiliar set, and helping her navigate every challenge.

They were old acquaintances, and after over a year of working together, Sophia could guess his intentions. Yet neither of them took that step. Fresh from a failed relationship, she wasn't ready to trust someone new. This arrangement suited her just fine.

Christopher, ever the gentleman, never pressed for answers. Even when their closeness made Grace ship them hard, he simply shielded her from the gossip, handling it alone.

On the day the female lead wrapped filming, the crew threw a farewell party. As the protagonist, Sophia personally prepared a gift and flowers for her co-star.

The actress wasn't just talented—she also had a loving family. Watching her husband pick her up, embracing and kissing her, Sophia felt a pang in her chest.

This was how it used to be with Ethan before Isabella showed up. No matter where she filmed or how far from Oceanview City, he'd always be the first to congratulate her after a wrap, making everyone envious.

But the moment he cheated, their story was doomed to end in tragedy.

"What? You like the rival female lead more than your actual co-star?"

Christopher approached with a teasing grin, handing her a tissue.

Sophia quickly turned away. She didn't want anyone—especially him—to see her like this.

He joined her on the balcony, letting the breeze settle between them. Just as her tears were drying, he popped a candy into his mouth. The faint taste of strawberry spread as he crunched it, then asked casually, "Do you think the female lead's rival in this film was wrong?"

In the movie, the rival was a university professor who turned into a vengeful killer after her fiancé's betrayal. She later redeemed herself by joining the protagonists, only to die tragically at the hands of a spy.

None of it would've happened if not for that scumbag fiancé.

Sophia scoffed. "What did she do wrong? She just loved the wrong person."

"Exactly. Just loved the wrong person. How is that her fault?"**

His tone, usually light, carried an unexpected weight. Sophia whipped her head around.

Christopher leaned against the wall, hands in his pockets, his gaze steady on her.

After a silent beat, he pulled two coconut candies from his pocket and dropped them into her palm.

"Eat something sweet when you figure things out. It helps."

She rolled her eyes. "I'm not a kid. Why would I need candy?"

It was the first time in over a year he'd seen that faintly petulant expression on her face.

"Well, if you're going to say that…" He grinned. "Guess I'll have to quote Director Zhang's famous line—"

"Since when do you have to be a kid to eat candy?"**

They said it in unison, then burst out laughing.

After that night, an unspoken tension lingered between them—one that translated into seamless chemistry on set. Grace's smile never faded.

Once filming wrapped, she even pulled Sophia aside for a hushed question.

"Darling… have you slept with him?"
