The divorce proceedings weren't over yet.

I left the city and went to live in Beijing.

A former colleague told me Chloe was still desperately clinging to Max, waiting for him outside the company every day after work.

After the video of Max and Chloe was exposed, his reputation and authority in the company declined sharply.

My departure also caused some trouble for the company's business. Many old clients I had previously handled ended their cooperation when contracts expired.

So during this time, Max was quite overwhelmed.

Seeing the company Max and I had built up bit by bit become like this, I had mixed feelings.

I politely declined:

"No need, thank you Mr. Clark."

Seeing my refusal, Charlie didn't say more, but instead invited me to a concert the next evening.

Looking at the VIP tickets Charlie handed me, I suddenly remembered there was a Vae concert in Beijing tomorrow.

When Max and I had just graduated, Vae held a concert in Hangzhou. We had no money then and listened to the whole show from outside the venue.

We made a promise that when we had money in the future, we'd definitely buy front row tickets.

Later when we gradually had money, he lost the heart to fulfill that promise.

I agreed to go with Charlie.

After the concert ended, I unexpectedly ran into a familiar figure.

Seeing me, joy flashed in Max's eyes.

"Karla, you came too?!"

Charlie inconspicuously stepped forward, shielding me.

I tugged at his sleeve:

"It's fine, just a stranger."

"Let's go."

With that, I took Charlie's hand and left without looking back.
