The Cage Wife’s Revenge

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Malissa had sent a fabricated message, making Milford believe I had already died. That lie had led to my torture for over a year.

And then, there was Enid.

Malissa had locked her in a dog cage, hoping she'd be killed by the guard dogs so that no one could challenge her son's claim to the family fortune.

Even that whole motorcycle gang incident? Malissa had tipped them off about our whereabouts.

Her goal had always been to get rid of me. If it hadn't been for Milford slipping some sleeping pills into Malissa's "goodnight milk," who knows how much longer she would've continued her reign of terror? If not for his unexpected concern, I might not have survived that day.

After Malissa received her punishment, she was dragged in front of Milford, bloodied and bruised.

She still had the nerve to beg, "Milo, you have to understand. Your brother died young. It's just me and Eddy, alone in this world. If I didn't play my cards right, how could I have survived in this family?"

Milford rubbed his temples in frustration. "Why couldn't you have survived on your own? Have I ever treated you badly? I've always said Eddy would be my heir one day. Why did you have to hurt Lori and Enid like this?!"

Malissa scoffed. "But what about Lorraine? Do you think she'd let her daughter lose her position as heir? Sooner or later, I'd be fighting against her and so would my son. It's better for me to strike first…"

Slap!

Milford's fury reached its peak. He slapped Malissa hard. "Have you lost your mind?! You're completely insane!"

"I've been managing two families for years. When has Lori ever caused you trouble? I've told her over and over I would make Eddy the heir and not once did she complain."

"The Wright Clan's values are clear—we don't turn on our own. But look at you! Lori is your sister-in-law, Enid is your niece—how could you do this to them? You're a cruel, malicious woman, and who knows what kind of person you'll turn Eddy into!"

Malissa's eyes widened, catching the unspoken threat in his words. She was visibly shaken, her voice trembling.

"What are you planning to do? You can't separate me from Eddy. He's my son! I'm the mother of the future heir to the Wrights! I'm the Lady of the House—I am!"

Milford scoffed, finally seeing her for who she truly was. "Don't blame me for this. I didn't force you to marry into two families, or climb into my bed. I didn't make you make Lorraine take the fall for me. You're the one who chose to cheat, to humiliate yourself. Don't you dare try to pin this all on me!"

"I'm your late brother's wife! You can't kill me. If you do, my brother's ghost will never forgive you!"

Milford's disbelief grew. "Don't worry, I won't kill you, and I won't separate you from Eddy. Starting today, Eddy will be legally adopted by me and Lori. As for you… you're just a dog in the Wright family. He'll never call you 'mom.'"

"If it weren't for you, Lori wouldn't have been tortured for an entire year, had her leg broken, and lost three fingers. If I had my way, I'd lock you in a dog cage, cut off your hands and feet, and make sure people served you every day."

"You'll stay in the Wright Clan and live out the rest of your life like a dog, big sister."

Ignoring Malissa's desperate cries, Milford had her dragged away.

As her screams echoed through the house, the old butler handed him a photo. Milford stared at the familiar faces in the picture, and for the first time in a long while, a spark of hope lit up his eyes.

"Lori…"

I had thought my life would stay peaceful from then on. But I was wrong.

One afternoon, I was sitting outside the flower shop with Enid, teaching her to identify different types of flowers, when a voice interrupted us—tired, filled with exhaustion, yet undeniably familiar.
