Chapter 8
Chapter 8
After Vincent Crawford's humiliating exit that day, my anxious heart finally found some peace.
The engagement banquet went ahead as planned, with Sebastian Pierce making sure every detail was perfect.
Half a year flew by in the blink of an eye, and soon, our wedding day arrived.
This ceremony was even grander than the one in my past life.
Sebastian was personally involved in every aspect, right down to the gilded patterns on the invitations.
He always told me, "Evelyn, all you need to do is look beautiful in your wedding dress."
On the wedding day, the entire city of Northcrest was buzzing with excitement.
Sebastian's bridal procession stretched for miles—a fleet of Rolls-Royces, all decorated with lily of the valley, glimmering in the sunlight.
"How did you know I loved lily of the valley?" I asked, surprised.
Sebastian knelt on one knee, gently kissing the back of my hand.
"Because I'm your Sebastian."
The starlight in his eyes outshone even the flowers on the cars.
The procession made its way to the newly built Pierce estate.
Sebastian held my hand the entire way, his thumb tracing soft circles on my palm.
Then, suddenly, the cars screeched to a halt.
"Don't be afraid," Sebastian reassured me, squeezing my hand. But his face turned icy in an instant.
Outside, there was a commotion, and my heart clenched.
I saw the image of Sebastian, lying in a pool of blood, flash before my eyes—just like in my past life.
Without thinking twice about my elaborate gown, I stumbled out of the car.
Vincent was curled up on the hood, blood trickling from his lips.
When he saw me, he struggled to stand.
"Evelyn, I—"
"Get away from her!" Sebastian shoved him aside before quickly checking to see if I was okay.
"Evelyn!" Vincent screamed, his voice frantic. "Are you really this heartless? Ten years of us—"
"Shut up!" Rosalie Simmons suddenly charged through the crowd, her face bruised.
"Vincent, you made me abort our child, and now you're trying to get your ex back?"
She clutched her stomach, blood dripping down her legs.
Mrs. Crawford watched, cold as ice.
"You were given a chance. You brought this on yourself."
Sirens wailed in the distance.
Sebastian stepped in front of me, shielding me with his body.
"Vincent, have you lost all dignity?"
As the police dragged Vincent into their car, he kept screaming my name.
I didn't look back. I linked my arm with Sebastian's and walked toward the bridal car.
The sun was still shining brightly, and the lily of the valley swayed gently in the breeze.
