The Past is Hard to Recall

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

This was also why, despite everyone saying the wedding dress didn't suit her, Winona insisted on wearing it. What Cole didn't expect was that I, the fool who had spent years blindly following him, had finally woken up. Even the child Winona was carrying wasn't his. Her young boyfriend had even demanded compensation from Cole. Furious, Cole had a huge fight with him outside the hospital. The whole incident made its way to the trending topics for a few days. I didn't know what happened after that. Cole came to find me several times, but each time, Samuel stopped him.

A month later, I found out I was pregnant. After my checkup, Samuel asked me to wait outside while he went to get the car. Suddenly, someone covered my mouth and nose from behind. When I regained consciousness, I realized I was in a van. The driver was none other than Cole. Cold sweat immediately covered my body. Even though I thought I was finally free of Cole and Winona, it seemed like I couldn't escape the fate of being hurt by him.

"Stella, you're awake?" Cole's voice sounded off, and that's when I noticed that Winona was in the front passenger seat. Her mouth was taped shut, and her hands and feet were bound.

"What are you doing, Cole?" I whispered, trying to grab my phone, only to realize it was already in his possession. He shook his head.

"You're still as clever as ever, but unfortunately, the phone is with me."

To my surprise, he handed the phone back to me. He even told me to call Samuel.

"Believe it or not, I really just want to talk to you."

I wasn't about to waste my time figuring out whether he was telling the truth. I quickly sent the location to Samuel. As for Cole, he was nothing but a complete madman. Seeing I didn't respond, he gave a bitter smile.

"Stella, in our past life, when I mentioned marrying Winona, you threw a huge tantrum. I just went along with it. We got married, had a beautiful daughter, lived with your parents, and they treated me like their own son, taking care of me. We were happy."

"Stella, why didn't you stop me this time? If you had, I would have listened to you," he said, his voice full of desperation. "Even though you cheated, married someone else, and are pregnant with his child, I'll forgive you. If you just get rid of the baby and come back to me, we can have the same life we had in the past... You know I've always loved you the most."

As he spoke, he suddenly covered his face and started crying uncontrollably. I watched him coldly, unmoved. In that moment, it finally clicked. Cole had reincarnated. He kept talking about a perfect life in the past, a fantasy that only existed in his mind.

I couldn't stay silent any longer. "We did have a beautiful daughter, but you were the one who killed her, weren't you? My parents treated you like their own son, but what did you do to them? All for Winona!"

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I thought about our past life.

"Stella, you…"

"I once loved you more than anything, but after everything that's happened, do you really think I could still love you? I hate you so much, I wish I could tear you apart!"

A mixture of confusion, pain, reluctance, and inner struggle flashed across his face. The sound of police sirens grew louder behind us, and even Winona, sitting next to him, started to struggle. He slammed his hand on the steering wheel, grabbing his hair and crying out in agony.

"Stella, I truly regret it. After everyone left me in the past life, I finally realized that Winona's suicide wasn't because I married someone else. It was because her boyfriend came to her, demanding money. When she couldn't give it to him, he made it look like a suicide by slashing her wrists!"
