Wife Bears Child for First Love, I Awaken, Join MSF Forever, Now She Regrets

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

I pulled the divorce agreement from my pocket, holding it in my hand before tossing it at Ottilie's feet.

I'd wanted to do this ever since I caught her and Kieran together.

Ottilie's face went pale, her eyes darting from the paper to my face. She reached for the microphone to regain control of the situation, but instead, her hand grabbed my arm, desperate to explain. "Jude, are you really so obsessed with making me miserable? I've told you already, if you don't bring this up again, we can be a family of three."

A family of three?

In her mind, a family could include anyone but me.

And I wasn't about to keep pretending.

"Just sign it. There's nothing left to say. I hope you find the happiness you're looking for," I said, my voice flat, final.

Ottilie shook her head vigorously. "I won't sign! I don't agree to this! You can forget it, Jude!"

I'd already spoken to my lawyer earlier, and he'd made it clear I could easily take everything from her. She'd cheated, had a child with another man, clear proof of adultery.

But dragging it through court would take too long, and I was about to leave the country. Even if I had the money, I wouldn't know where to spend it.

I had already decided to take only what I was owed, and I'd instructed my lawyer to donate everything else to rural schools after I left.

There was no more to discuss.

I turned to leave, but Ottilie wasn't done. She handed the baby to her father and rushed after me.

But then something unexpected happened.

Kieran, who had seemed fine just a few moments ago, suddenly grabbed his chest, gasping for air.

"Ottilie... I can't breathe... I think the shock was too much... I might not make it..." His voice was barely a whisper.

"Ottilie, stay with me, I'll take you to the hospital, don't worry!" She was frantic, trying to support him, her panic momentarily taking her focus off me.

She believed that once this was over, we could still talk, and I'd come to my senses. As long as I didn't agree to the divorce, things between us would never really end.

Ottilie thought she had more time, but then her father's health took a turn for the worse, his heart rate spiking in response to the emotional stress. Ottilie was torn, unsure who to help first, Kieran or her father.

As they rushed Kieran to the hospital, they ran into the hospital director and the best cardiologist in the city just outside the operating room.

Ottilie, desperate, rushed over and knelt in front of the doctor. "Please, you have to save my father. His condition is critical. You remember Kieran, right? He was supposed to see you?"

The specialist looked at her for a long moment before asking, "You're Jude Wilson's wife, right?"

Ottilie froze. "Yes..."

The doctor's eyes softened slightly. "I remember Jude contacted me about his father-in-law's health. He even showed me your photo, said you were such a devoted daughter. But just a few days ago, he called and canceled the checkup. What's happening now?"

Ottilie was stunned, her mind spinning. They had always assumed Kieran was behind all of this, that I had no connections of my own. Only now, did they realize how wrong they were.

The doctor gently pulled her aside. "I'm sorry, Miss Parker, but we have to catch a flight for a conference. Our team here is the best in the city, though, and we'll do everything we can for your father."

They left, and Ottilie stayed kneeling outside the operating room, a mix of regret and disbelief on her face.

Her mother, standing nearby, shot her a bitter look. "What did I tell you? Even if Jude Wilson was ruthless, he wouldn't joke about something like this. None of you believed me, and now look, if anything happens to your father, it's on you."

The baby, startled by the argument, began to cry loudly. Mrs. Parker, annoyed, shoved the child into a nearby chair.

"Stop crying! What are we raising, an ancestor?" she snapped.

But Ottilie didn't even notice. She reached for her phone, thinking maybe, just maybe, I could still help.

But when she tried to call, my phone was off.

I had already boarded my flight, and as I settled into my seat, my head against the window, I watched as the ground faded into the distance, the world shrinking below me.

For the first time, it felt real.

I wasn't just leaving them behind, I was leaving everything behind.

From this moment on, I wasn't tied to any country, any place, any person. My life would belong to the world.
