Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Later that evening, after dinner, I saw Freya's Facebook post. "He cooks for me and plays guitar for me. It's a show just for me." The picture showed Kayne teaching Freya how to play the guitar. Kayne, a well-known band guitarist, had been steadily rising in fame since we met. His guitars were his life, and they were off-limits to me. I still remembered when he went on a long business trip, and the guitars at home had gathered some dust. I just wanted to clean them up a little, but when he got back and found out, he freaked out. He even yelled at me, "Olivia, don't ever go into my guitar room again!" After that, I never did.
But now, Freya was holding his precious guitar like it was just another toy. I put my phone down and continued reading the documents. I didn't leave the study until it was late. As I was heading out, I saw several messages from Kayne.
[Olivia, where are you?]
[It's about to rain outside. Should I pick you up?]
[I'm heading out now.]
The last message was sent half an hour ago. I wasn't sure if he had already left. I replied, [No need. I can take a taxi.]
Then, my phone rang. It was Kayne. "Are you still mad? Why didn't you reply to my messages?" Before I could answer, he asked, "Where are you now?"
"I'm almost home. You don't need to pick me up," I said, trying to keep my cool.
Kayne hung up without saying another word.
When I got home, I saw him standing there, looking at me with a mixed expression. When he saw I was carrying something, he hurried over to help.
"Olivia, if you're still upset about Freya, I can explain. She's just a friend. If you don't believe me, you can ask my friends. As for the car accident, I didn't know you were hurt. You didn't tell me."
What? Was it my fault? I walked past him, feeling numb.
"You don't need to explain anything to me. I don't care about your relationship with Freya." I paused for a moment, then added coldly, "If you actually treated me like your girlfriend, you should've at least been concerned about me."
