Dating My Boss Online

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

In my excitement, I slammed the desk hard, startling her.

Ottilie Taylor's expression was visibly confused, and that dazed look actually seemed a bit cute.

It was at this moment that I belatedly realized that the online her and the real-life her were the same person.

I coughed dryly: "... I'm sorry, VP Taylor. I, uh, suddenly have a stomach ache. I need to use the restroom. Please take a look first." With that, I grabbed my phone from the desk and headed to the bathroom.

Ottilie Taylor's face remained puzzled: "... Ah, okay."

There was a one-click logout button on my phone. I quickly pressed it and finally let out a sigh of relief.

Mainly because Ottilie Taylor liked to talk about every little thing, and if the bottom right corner of the computer kept flashing, even if I didn't open it, the mouse might accidentally hover over it and be discovered.

I replied to the messages one by one, then dawdled for a good while before going back.

When I returned, Ottilie Taylor had finished looking at it and called me over to revise the proposal.

After telling me all the parts that needed modification, she went to her office: "I'm going to get something, I'll be back in a bit."

She's coming back?

I was inwardly in tears, but could only bury my head in work.

I have to say, the little boss was indeed a workaholic. Under her "guidance," by the time we finished revising the proposal, it was almost midnight.

"That should do it. Let's leave it at that," Ottilie Taylor nodded.

I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief: "Alright, that's good."

But I was quite resentful inside.

Just then, Ottilie Taylor suddenly asked me, "You live in the employee dormitory, right? Shall I give you a ride back?"

"Huh?"

I was startled and quickly waved my hands, "No, no, it's not necessary. I'll just walk back, it's quite close."

"It's not safe for you to walk alone."

Ottilie Taylor was very insistent.

Unable to refuse, I agreed.

At the same time, she sent me a message: "Giving a male colleague who worked overtime a ride home. Didn't let him sit in the front seat."

Me: "ok"

As I got into the car, neither of us spoke. I felt a bit awkward, but it wasn't convenient to play with my phone in the car, so I could only stare out the window like an idiot.

"Oh, by the way, what kind of gifts do you guys like to receive from girlfriends?" she suddenly asked me.

I was taken aback — indeed, my birthday was coming up soon.

I awkwardly replied: "Ah... well, it's not really about what gift it is, but the thought that counts."

"... It's just that I've given my boyfriend some gifts before, but he really didn't like them and returned them to me, so I don't know what to do."

She seemed quite troubled, but I just wanted to curse.

Damn it, I come from an ordinary family. The gifts she sent were all high-end watches. I don't even have the right outfit to go with them, and if I wore them around others, they'd probably think they were fake.

Why wouldn't I return them?

After thinking for a moment, I said: "You could make some small handmade things. They're not expensive, but they're made by you personally, which best shows your sincerity."

She seemed to run out of things to say: "... Oh, you look quite young. How old are you?"

I tensed up: "I'm a year older than you."

Her: "Which month?"

Me: "August."

She made an "oh" sound, then seemed a bit embarrassed: "Um... I've never known your name — what's your name?"

Me: ...

"Gus Watson."

Online, I had told her my name was "Justin."

After that, neither of us spoke again. When we arrived at the dormitory, I politely said goodbye.

"Thank you, VP Taylor."

"It's nothing, go on up."

I nodded and was about to leave.

"Gus Watson!"

Ottilie Taylor suddenly called out to me.

"Yes?"

I turned back, looking at her a bit puzzled, "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing, go back early."

After the proposal was approved, we successfully secured a big deal. The big boss, who is also Ottilie Taylor's mother, was very happy and invited everyone out for dinner that evening.

At the dinner table, many people were busy toasting and drinking. As someone who doesn't drink, I just focused on eating.

Suddenly, I was called out.

"Hey, let me introduce everyone. This is Gus from our department. Don't be fooled by his young age, he's very capable. The proposal from last time was even praised by VP Taylor, right, Gus?" Luke Hughes smiled, putting his hand on my shoulder, looking as if he highly valued me.

But I knew very well that this proposal originally wasn't meant for me. It was supposed to be his job. He just pushed it onto me.

Online, I'm talkative, but in reality, I'm quite timid.

I've always been uncomfortable in these situations, but I still forced a smile: "Not at all, it's mainly because Mr. Hughes is a good leader."

Luke's smile deepened: "It's mainly because of your own outstanding abilities. After all, you graduated from a prestigious university."

Saying this, he beckoned to me, "Come on, Gus, toast to the executives."
