Chapter 28
Chapter 28
"I feel so sorry for Clare. She doesn't have any kid, and the girl she spared no effort to raise is gone."
"You said it. I still remember Anika. She's a smart and sweet girl. How could she die so young?"
"She didn't live a good life in a wealthy family. When I saw her the last time, she seemed to have changed. She was so thin that even a breeze could blow her away."
"Anika praised her husband again and again, and so did Clare. However, it was all self-deception. They've been married for three years, but I never saw the man coming back with her."
Joshua choked up when he heard all this.
He didn't see Clare or Anika the whole day.
Joshua leaned against a chair and fell into a shallow sleep. He was startled awake not long after.
He dreamed about Anika's death again.
Opening his eyes, he looked around. The surroundings were silent and dark. There was no sign of Anika.
At that moment, he had a feeling that Anika would never come back.
At ten o'clock at night.
Clare's neighbors were all taken into the brick house for questions. They were surrounded by bodyguards. The house looked narrower in this situation.
"Where are they?"
No one in the village had seen such a scene. They seriously stood up with their heads lowered, not daring to look at Joshua, who had the aura of a nobleman and a dark face.
"I heard Clare's cries at night the day before yesterday and went over to take a look, only to find out about Anika's death."
"The death of young people is ominous. She was cremated and buried that night."
She was buried that night...
There was a flash of shock in Joshua's dark eyes.
"Clare went missing yesterday after Anika's burial."
Other people echoed after hearing this.
Payton asked them where Trent was.
The neighbors looked at each other. They didn't know the answer.
They said that Trent was an orphan and that he never returned after being taken away.

3 past midnight.
The heavy rain continued. On the sky were lightning and thunder. The road in the countryside got too muddy to walk on.
"Mr. Conan, shall we go to the cemetery again tomorrow?"
Payton had been investigating Anika's death these days and felt that he could no longer hold on.
Joshua looked at him.
Payton immediately shut up. He held the umbrella and warily walked behind Joshua, but in his heart, he couldn't help wondering.
Joshua didn't like Anika. Everyone knew that. Why was he looking for her at all costs now?
They arrived at the cemetery. Joshua saw the new grave on the hill at a glance.
He choked up and stopped in his tracks.
After a long time, he ordered, "Dig it!"
He had to see either the body or Anika alive.
He wouldn't believe in her death unless he saw it.
Under the night, Joshua watched as the new grave was dug up bit by bit with a cold face.
His heart was in his mouth, and finally, a bodyguard walked up to him with a box.
"Mr. Conan."
Joshua was standing straight. No one could see his expression due to the darkness.
"Take it back."
Joshua was exceptionally calm on the way back.
He was bad at hiding his emotions, but today, no one knew how he was feeling.
He hadn't slept for a few days, but he didn't feel like sleeping when leaning against the chair.
Joshua looked outside the window of the car at the city where Anika lived in her childhood. In his mind was her face, and in his ears was her sound.
"Joshua, can you hug me? I feel so cold.
"Joshua, will you be sad if I die?
"Joshua, I wish you to be happy all your life."
Somehow, he had a sore throat.
No one noticed Joshua's red eyes in his handsome reflection in the window.
People were always separable from each other.
When Joshua brought Anika's ashes back, everyone who knew her thought that she was dead.
The result wouldn't change even if he found Trent.
After mourning Anika's death, people returned to their peaceful life.
But it was different for Joshua.
