Leave the Wrong Man, Marry the Right Love

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

I bumped into Harrison again at a friend's birthday party, but this time, he was a completely different person. He was lounging on the sofa like he didn't have a care in the world, his shirt unbuttoned just enough to reveal his chiseled chest and sharp collarbone. A stunning girl with blue hair was curled up beside him, both of them flushed, clearly enjoying their time together.

If I'd known I'd run into him, I wouldn't have come. I'd seen Harrison's obsessive, erratic side before, and the last thing I wanted was a repeat performance. As I contemplated slipping out, his eyes suddenly flicked open, locking onto mine.

Without thinking, I turned quickly, hoping to sneak away before he noticed. But I should've known better, Harrison was fast. In no time, he had me backed into a corner, lifting my chin with that signature casual dominance. His eyes gleamed with an unsettling intensity, almost glowing red.

"Why aren't you running, Nina?" he teased, his voice low and taunting. Hearing him say my name like that sent a shiver down my spine. It reminded me of that time he chased my car for miles just to hand me a box of fresh strawberries.

"Nina, these strawberries are for you. Try them," he'd said back then, his eyes filled with sincerity. That moment had been my undoing.

Now, his grip on my chin tightened. "You're not being good, Nina. How could you go behind my back to see someone else?"

I met his gaze, unflinching. "You broke your promise first, Harrison. This has always been your fault."

"I... I didn't mean to. I just, " He faltered, his confidence slipping.

"You just weren't ready to settle down, right?" I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

Harrison blinked, caught off guard. I smiled, almost mockingly. "Well, I'm not waiting around for you anymore. Is that a problem?"

I was five years older than him, and I'd never blamed him for wanting to have fun. But the frustration built inside me. Why hold on to promises when his actions were making a fool of me? He had every chance to be honest with me, but instead, he paraded someone else in front of me, turning me into the butt of our friend group's jokes.

Before I could say anything else, he yanked me into his arms, burying his face in my neck. His voice cracked as he muttered apologies.

"Nina, I'm sorry. Please, believe me, I never wanted this."

"You wanted to get married. Let's go get the certificate now, shall we?" I shot back, my words sharp, almost cruel.

"Don't leave me, please," he begged, desperation flooding his eyes. I shoved him away, coldly stating, "It's too late. I'm already married."

His eyes widened, horror setting in. "What are you talking about...?"

Before I could explain, he kissed me, cutting off my words. I tried to pull away, but he wasn't letting go. Frustrated, I bit down on his tongue, the sharp, metallic taste of blood filling my mouth.

It wasn't just the pain that made my eyes sting, Harrison's tears fell onto my face, blurring my vision. His arms went limp, and I thought maybe, just maybe, he'd snapped out of it.

But then, in a split second, he was dragging me into his car.

"Nina, I can't let you go back to that old fox, Ethan. If you don't love me anymore, then I have no reason to live."

"Let's just die together," he said, his voice laced with madness.

The car shot forward, weaving through traffic at breakneck speed. My heart raced, and my palms began to sweat, panic setting in.

"Harrison, calm down," I pleaded, my voice shaky.

"I can't calm down!" he shouted, the car swerving dangerously.

"Harrison..."

As we got closer to a car in front of us, my breath caught in my throat. I squeezed my eyes shut, bracing for the impact.
