Married to the Billionaire by Chance

Chapter 5-6

Chapter 5-6

In front of city hall, Jovanny was leaning on a Mercedes and making a call. He frowned as he glanced at his phone.

He looked at Gracelyn. "It's 2:40 p.m. You're late."

Gracelyn said apologetically, "I went home to fetch my ID. I'm sorry."

"Come on. Hurry up. We'll get a fine if the car parks here for too long."

Jovanny stood up and Gracelyn stared at the Mercedes E300 behind him idly.

"How come you drive such an expensive car?"

Jovanny glanced at his Mercedes subconsciously. It was the cheapest one in his garage. However, when he noticed Gracelyn's surprised look, he explained, "I bought it on a loan."

"OK."

Looking at the man who was about to be her husband, Gracelyn sensed something was off, but she couldn't pinpoint a problem. When Jovanny looked over his shoulder at her, she hastily caught up with him. Walking out of the city hall, each of them was holding a marriage certificate. Gracelyn's mind went blank for a moment.

She never expected that she would get married like this.

"I need to go. Contact me on Line if you need anything."

When she returned home, Philip beamed at her and said excitedly, "Finally, my wish came true. Show me the marriage certificate."

Philip held the marriage certificate in his hands and examined it thoroughly. Gracelyn watched him and doubted he would return it to her anytime soon. So, she asked, "Philip, what food does Jovanny like? I texted him and he never replied. I wonder if he's coming home for dinner tonight."

"He's a grown man, not a child. He can eat anything. Just make the food you like."

Gracelyn went into the kitchen and Philip sat on the couch in the living room. He glanced at the clock on the wall and took out his flip phone to call Jovanny. Jovanny was in a meeting, but he had to answer Philip's call.

As soon as the call was connected, Philip's angry shout blared out.

"Brat, what are you doing?"

Jovanny pinched the bridge of his nose and said tiredly, "I'm in the office, having a meeting."

"Meeting? Is that all you can think about? Do you remember what day it is today?

"It's Monday."

"You..." Philip nearly passed out due to anger. He shouted at his phone angrily.

"It's your wedding day! If you don't come home in 30 minutes, don't bother coming back ever."

The conference room was quiet as Jovanny was present. And Philip was really loud. It was impossible not to overhear their conversation. The room fell silent.

They thought, "Mr. Latimer got married today? He's such a workaholic. How could he leave his newlywed wife at home and come back to the office?"

It was the genuine thought of the management at the meeting. They were also worried about handling the stress Jovanny would bring on them after hanging up.

Gracelyn heard the sound of a key opening the door...

It was Jovanny. He had draped his jacket over his arm and was only dressed in a white shirt and black trousers. With his imposing figure and polished vibe, he looked like a successful businessman.

Gracelyn walked over and took the jacket from him. "Wash your hands. Dinner is ready."

Jovanny watched her bustle around in the kitchen and spaced out for a while. He suddenly realized that he was married. After a long pause, he changed into a pair of slippers and washed his hands. When he came out of the bathroom, Gracelyn had brought the dishes to the dining table.

"Jovanny, have you found a job yet?"

Jovanny buried his head in the dish and answered without looking up, "I'm still looking for one."

Philip's face fell and he poked Jovanny with his cane subtly. He sighed and thought, "Never mind. He got married as I asked. I shall leave him alone for a while. He wants to pretend to be poor as a test of Gracelyn's character. I'll just watch it."

After dinner, Gracelyn collected the dishes and carried them to the kitchen. Philip knocked Jovanny's knee with his cane.

"Help her out. She isn't your maid." The hit was harsh and Jovanny tensed and hissed in pain.

He stood up resignedly and walked into the kitchen. Standing behind Gracelyn, he said, "I'll help."

Gracelyn wanted to ask him to go out politely. But Jovanny had already walked around her and started washing the dishes in another sink.

Jovanny was focused. His sleeves were rolled up, showing his firm forearms. Watching his slender fingers run across the plates, Gracelyn couldn't help but think, "It's fun to watch a handsome man do chords."

She paused and opened her mouth to say something when her phone rang. It was Patrick calling.

Jovanny suddenly turned his head and glanced at her. "Aren't you going to take it?"

Gracelyn declined the call and relied guiltily, "It's a sales call."

Jovanny glanced at her phone but didn't say anything. When Patrick tried again, he was told that the number couldn't be connected. Furious, he threw his phone on the sofa.

His mother asked worriedly, "What's wrong? She still won't answer your calls?"

Patrick huffed, "She blocked my number."

"Since she refused to talk to you, you should let her be. Give her the cold shoulder."

As soon as they finished cleaning the dishes, Philip eagerly kicked them out and told them to go back to their own home. The two sat on the couch of Gracelyn's home, feeling more awkward than before.

"Well... Would you like to take a shower first?"

Gracelyn twiddled her fingers nervously as she was anxious about what they were about to do. Jovanny glanced at him and noticed her anxiety.

He thought, "She had a boyfriend before. Yet, she's acting like no experience."

Suddenly, he was impressed by her acting.

"Let's talk first."

Jovanny took out a bank card and placed it on the table.
