Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Before I could even say a word, my father slapped Lorenzo across the face with a resounding crack.
"Get out of here, Lorenzo! I trusted you with my daughter, and you've hurt her over and over again! Always backing that vixen—are you even human?"
Charles's eyes turned icy as he glared at Lorenzo.
"Lorenzo, you assaulted the Princess Consort and intentionally harmed the Crown Prince. I'll be reporting this to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You will face the consequences."
Lorenzo's face drained of color. He wanted to beg Charles, but cowered under his cold, imposing presence. Instead, he turned to me with desperate, pitiful eyes.
"Danna, we grew up together. Do you really have the heart to send me to prison? Don't you remember? When we were kids, I always saved my chocolate for you. When you were scared of thunderstorms, I was the one who comforted you to sleep. How could you forget all of that?"
"You're kind, Danna. You wouldn't just stand by and watch me fall like this, would you?"
I shot him a cold look and pointed at the thick bandages wrapped around my face. "You want to talk about affection?"
"You stood by while your fiancée slashed my face open. You watched as she humiliated and beat me. You faked amnesia and broke off our engagement. And now you call that 'love' and 'loyalty'?"
"Lorenzo, the moment you embraced Vanessa at the wedding and declared her your true love, we were done. And as for conspiring with her to hurt members of the French royal family—believe me, you'll pay for that. You've earned every bit of punishment coming your way."
Lorenzo froze in disbelief, but still, he didn't give up.
"Danna, I know I was wrong. Please, just give me one more chance. I swear, I'll cut ties with her. I'll be good to you from now on."
I couldn't help but smile mockingly.
"Lorenzo, someone is already good to me. I don't need your pathetic version of love."
"The only reason you're still breathing is because Arthur's going to be okay. Otherwise, I'd have killed you myself."
Lorenzo's expression crumbled as he processed my words. Realizing I hadn't softened, he finally snapped.
"Danna, don't be stupid! You really think Charles loves you? You're just a placeholder! Deep down, you know that."
"You're a plain girl, with no background, no beauty, no talent—how could a prince love someone like you? He's just playing with you!"
"But if you forgive me, I'll help you take control of Charles's finances. I'll be your strongest ally—it'll benefit you."
I couldn't help but laugh. Where did he get this insane confidence from? Did he really think I needed him?
I pulled out my phone, opened the signed documents, and shoved them in his face.
"Charles has already transferred sixty percent of his assets to me and our child's name. What exactly do I need from you?"
Lorenzo's pupils widened as he muttered in disbelief.
"No… That's impossible. He's a French prince. Why would he give all of that to you? You have nothing—why would he love you like that?"
But he would never understand.
Love wasn't about looks or wealth—it was about care, about truly cherishing someone. And I didn't owe him an explanation. Let him rot in his delusions.
"Lorenzo, not everyone is as filthy and shameless as you. You even faked a split personality just to be with your little lover. You think you deserve forgiveness?"
Lorenzo stood frozen, speechless. Maybe even he didn't know how to justify his actions anymore.
At that moment, the guards dragged in a bloodied Vanessa.
They asked how to deal with her. Considering Charles's status, I didn't want her to be beaten senseless and dumped in the slums.
I turned to Charles and said casually, "Since they're so in love, take them to get a marriage license. Let them spend the rest of their miserable lives together."
As soon as Lorenzo heard that, he started shaking his head frantically.
