My Sweet, Tyrant Lycan Mate

Chapter Eleven

Chapter Eleven

For the King’s Amusement

Lily’s POV

I walked around the house and took in all of the beautiful decorations as my mind wandered. A lot happened within the past few weeks and I haven’t had the time to process much of any of it.

Before all of this, my life was normal–for a werewolf. I attended school, got decent grades, went out, and just lived. Things were going well and everything was fine.

But never in a million years did I think that a complete 180 was going to happen and that I was going to end up as the maid to the ruthless Lycan King.

I thought my days were numbered.

Until he saved my life, and I in return would do the same. I still don’t get what the Lycan King sees in a wolfless, weak girl like me, but whatever he saw, it was keeping me alive.

So, in a weird way, I was grateful.

Maybe he’s not an entirely bad person… I mean, yeah, he’s killed a bunch of people but from what I’ve seen, they all provoked him.

Okay, well, maybe not so much Anny but…

I shook my head. He’s been suffering for so long because of the Fire Wolf. At one point, he even accepted that I might’ve killed him during the new moon.

Maybe there’s something I can do to help him. Even if I am wolfless. He’s spared me on more than one occasion and he doesn’t deserve to live such a hard life because of his Fire Wolf.

I felt my heart quicken in pace as my cheeks got warm. Was I starting to like the Lycan King?

I shook away the thoughts in my head to bring myself back to the reality I lived in.

I walked to the balcony of the second floor and looked down to see Alpha Leo with a worried expression on his face. When I looked over at the Lycan King, he seemed to be calm and composed.

Then, he turned around and looked up at me. A smile formed on his face.

Normally, a smile from a relatively nice-looking man would send butterflies throughout my stomach but something about the Lycan King’s, in particular, made it seem… sinister.

The Lycan King motioned for me to join him in the backyard. I made haste down the stairs and through the backdoor so I wouldn’t keep him waiting.

I immediately knelt before him. “Yes, Your Majesty?”

“Cut the formality crap, Lily. Just come with me.”

The Lycan King whistled for Cerberus who came running to us in a mad sprint. The beast sat down as his tailed wagged happily.

“Down,” the Lycan King commanded.

Cerberus laid on his stomach as his head cocked to the side.

The Lycan King held out his hand towards me. “I’ll help you up.”

I hesitantly placed my hand in his and with firm gentleness, he pulled me against his strong body. My cheeks felt like they were on fire as my hand was awkwardly pinned between myself and his hard chest.

The Lycan King looked down at me with a smirk. “Don’t get too comfortable.”

We rode to the training grounds, which was just an old soccer field that the Alpha Leo bought to be repurposed for his pack. When we arrived, I noticed that all of his men stood in the center of the field. It looked like none of them wanted to be there.

At one of the ends of the soccer field was a small stage. A cushioned bench meant for two sat under the shade of a large canopy.

The Lycan King was the first to dismount Cerberus as he held his hands outstretched towards me. “Go sit under the shade. I’ll be there soon.”

I watched as the Lycan King approached the dozens of men that stood in the field. They all straightened their backs as they listened to what the king had to say.

I couldn’t quite make out what they were saying but I knew it wasn’t something good. The men looked at each other with horror and sadness.

The Lycan King glared at them as if waiting for a response. They all remained quiet but it looked like they wanted to speak up.

“We won’t do it!” A man’s voice carried throughout the field.

I held in my breath. No way they defied an order from the Lycan King?

The others that sat around stopped whatever conversations they were having and directed their attention to the center of the field. Everything was quiet as tension stirred in the air.

My eyes fell back on the Lycan King, who surprisingly didn’t lose his composure.

But when I looked back at the man who openly defied him, I saw his face drain of color after the Lycan King said something else.

The group of men and their demeanors changed. It was like a spark had ignited a flame in each of their eyes as they all now glared at one another.

It was like they no longer looked at each other as pack mates.

After a few minutes, the Lycan King took his seat next to me. He draped his arm around my shoulders as he took a sip of iced water.

Two men approached the center of the field while the others cleared out. At the sound of the whistle, they all began to fight.

They were relentless and it looked like they were trying to kill each other. My stomach started to twist in knots when I looked up at the Lycan King to see a smile in his eyes.

The sound of bones shattering made me jump and huddle closer against the Lycan King. Why are they doing this to each other? What’s the meaning of all of this?!

As if he heard my thoughts, the Lycan King laughed. “It’s interesting to see just how quickly a man’s answer will change when you offer something of value.”

I looked up at him in disbelief. “What do you mean?”

“Just a few minutes ago, those cowards didn’t want to fight for my amusement.” He huffed. “But then, I told them that the winner of this little tournament would get a small vial of my blood.”

He barked out another laugh. “And now look at them. Eager to prove their worth and strength for a measly amount of lycan blood.”

Of course, they were willing to throw away their lives for a small taste of true power…

I watched as the two men fought brutally, cuts and bruises decorating their bodies with each hit. Blood splattered and soaked the grass beneath them and I thought I was going to vomit.

To hide from the chaos, I buried my head into the Lycan King’s chest. I couldn’t bear the scene anymore.

But their screams of agony and nightmarish warcries echoed in my mind and soon, I passed out.
