My Sweet, Tyrant Lycan Mate

Chapter Sixteen

Chapter Sixteen

Please, Help Me

Lily’s POV

I stayed in the garden for a little while longer after Alex left. I was too stunned to move to go and see the Lycan King. Even though I already knew my decision, I still knew there was a lot to think about.

Alex had been spying on my parents and the Blue Moon Pack. For long, he never said. A part of me thought that maybe he only said those things as a bluff but I knew it in my gut that he wasn’t lying.

Even if he was lying, I didn’t want to take the risk. My parents and Alpha Oscar meant too much to me, and I didn’t want to lose them.

I had to think of something that I could do to save my parents and stop Alex without telling the Lycan King. Even though I knew he could definitely put the alpha’s son in his place, I didn’t want people to think that I was suddenly relying on him.

People would look at me like I’m some sort of traitor…

I decided to walk back to the house and go take a nap. After everything that happened, I was too mentally exhausted to deal with anything else.

When I got back to the bedroom, I saw that the Lycan King was sitting at the edge of our bed. His expression was hard and his leg was bouncing furiously.

“Where have you been?”

I hesitated for a few seconds too long. “I went out for a walk today. Wanted to get some fresh air and visit some familiar spots I used to go to when I was a kid.”

There was a tense silence around us. To try to lighten the mood, I went in and gave the Lycan King a small hug as I squeezed his shoulders gently.

But he wasn’t buying it. “You smell like someone else.”

I shrugged my shoulders. “I ran into some old friends; they’re probably the ones you smell.”

The Lycan King’s expression never changed. It was like he could see right through my lies, which, wouldn’t surprise me if he could.

I tried to ease the tension again by leaning in for a kiss. Although he was the first one to always kiss me, I wondered if showing initiative would help take his mind off of asking me any more questions.

I planted my lips on him but he shifted his head slightly to the side where I was kissing just the corner of his mouth. The Lycan King wasn’t amused at all.

“Liar,” the Fire Wolf’s word echoed in my mind.

My heart stopped beating for that second. I prayed to the Moon Goddess that the Lycan King didn’t hear what his Fire Wolf had to say.

After a few moments, the Lycan King let out a sigh and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. “Don’t walk around without me. The Night Walker Pack is more dangerous than you realize.”

I wanted to agree with his words and tell him everything about what Alex had planned, but I was too scared of him finding out that I was told to poison him. Not like I was going to do it, but I didn’t want him to get the wrong idea.

“Okay, I understand.”

The Lycan King let out a huff. “So, are you sure there’s nothing you want to say to me?”

I shook my head. “No.”

And then, another awkward silence took over us once more.

“Alright, well… I’m gonna go play with Cerberus for a bit. I’ll be back soon.”

As I was turning around to leave, the Lycan King got up and grabbed me by the wrist. He spun me around and held me tightly against his body.

“Don’t lie to me,” he growled. “Alex’s scent isn’t too far from his father’s, and I also know what the remnants of a poison pill smell like, too.”

My heart sank to the bottom of my stomach. He knows!

I stammered the entire time I recounted everything to the Lycan King. “I-I woke up this morning and saw a letter on the nightstand. It was signed by you…”

“It said to meet me in the garden and when you weren’t there, I knew something was off. I was going to leave but then…”

“Alex showed up.”

I nodded my head. “He tried to hit on me but I slapped him…”

He barked out a laugh. His expression became serious again after that though.

“That’s when he told me that I had to be the one to kill you because I was the only one left. All of the other girls failed so now it was my responsibility to finish what they started.”

I fiddled with my fingers before pulling the dagger out of my back pocket and handing it to the Lycan King. “Alex gave me this, too…”

The Lycan King took the dagger and looked it over. There was a few moments of silence between us after that. His expression softened but there was no denying the anger that burned in his eyes.

“I knew that they were going to stoop so low as to make you their last resort assassin. The question now is–what are you going to do?”

Without missing a beat, I responded. “I’m not going to go through with it. I don’t want to poison you, I don’t want to kill you.”

Even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t. The Lycan King wasn’t an entirely bad person and he was the one that needed help.

Still, I couldn’t help but think about my parents and their safety. I didn’t want anything to happen to them. They were always supportive of me and always had my back. I didn’t want to lose them.

Just thinking about them was enough to make me cry. My heart swelled with emotions as tears spilled down my face.

Without thinking, I threw myself back into the Lycan King’s arms as I sobbed uncontrollably.

“Please, I don’t know what to do. I’m lost. Alex said he’ll kill my parents and my Alpha if I don’t poison you. I don’t want to kill you, and I don’t want to lose my parents.”

“Please, Your Majesty! I’m begging you to help me!”
