My Sweet, Tyrant Lycan Mate

Chapter Nineteen

Chapter Nineteen

Saving My Heart

Zack’s POV

I paced around the bedroom, annoyed with how today was playing out. I figured that Lily would’ve been grateful that we solved the problem with Alex so easily.

Yet, she hadn’t spoken to me since and she wouldn’t even tell me why she was screaming in her sleep. Her lack of communication was irritating me more than the Fire Wolf’s presence.

I just don’t understand why Lily is so afraid of taking another life. Does she not see the logic in it?

If someone threatens someone you love, either you call them on their bluff, or your strike them before they even know what’s coming. Does she not give a damn about protecting the people she cares about?

To me, I thought it was simple math. Danger lurked around every corner, and at the time I was roaming the world with my pack.

We knew that if you threatened one of us, you threatened all of us. Our loyalty to each other ran deep and we were already to kill or lay down our lives for one another.

If anything, I found it interesting that Lily didn’t seem to think the same way. After all, she told me about how much her parents and pack mean to her. How would she not be willing to go to the extremes for them?

As I continued to look out of the window to observe Lily, I found it frustrating that I had no idea how to make amends with her. Assuming that apologizing was what I had to do to win her favor again.

The Fire Wolf laughed in the back of my mind. “How did I get such an incompetent host?”

“And how did I get stuck with a nuisance of a wolf?” I said out loud.

The Fire Wolf barked another laugh before settling down once more.

I walked over to the fridge to get some ice water to calm down. Ever since Lily started acting cold towards me, the Fire Wolf’s agitation has increased.

I wanted to feel peace again. I wanted Lily by my side again.

As I was about to go back upstairs, the Fire Wolf growled in the back of my mind. “Well… well… do I have some news for you, Your Majesty.”

“What is it?”

“I feel something… familiar. And it’s coming from nearby. What pack rules this region again?”

“The Night Walker Pack.” I didn’t hide my disgust for them. Something about them always seemed off to me but I could never figure out why.

After a few moments of silence, my Fire Wolf howled. “That’s what I’m sensing! Zack, it’s other lycans!”

Adrenaline began to pump through my veins as I decided to rush out of the door to investigate. If the Night Walker Pack had anything to do with the disappearance of my people, then I knew that I needed to look for Alpha Leo’s residence.

But when I stepped outside, I saw Cerberus moping around near the garden.

“Cerberus!” I was about to scold him. “You big beast, you’ll trample all of the flowers if you’re not careful!”

Cerberus began to whine and whimper–something he never did. Until Lily came around.

“Get away from the flowers or you’ll upset Lily!”

Cerberus then began to bark frantically as his ears shifted downward. That was when I knew something was wrong.

I rushed into the garden to see Lily passed out on the ground. Blood stained her clothes and the gravel path she was laying on.

I scooped her into my arms and ran back into the house. When I laid her on the bed, she began to stir from unconsciousness and groan out in pain.

Without hesitation, I smashed the flower vase on our nightstand and cut the palm of my hand with its shard. Then, I pressed my palm to her mouth.

“Drink, Lily! Drink!”

I was met with opposition when Lily clenched her teeth instead. Pain had her in a vise grip as she grabbed the blanket so hard her knuckles were turning white.

I took my other hand and squeezed on both sides of Lily’s cheeks, forcing her mouth to open slightly. Like the first time I saved her life, I bit my finger hard and waited for the blood to pool. After that, I crammed my finger into her mouth again.

To my relief, Lily began to drink my blood. Color was returning to her face and I was now happy that I had gotten to her in time.

Soon, feelings of dizziness started to make my head spin. I looked down at the palm of my hand and saw that I had cut deeper than I normally do. I was losing way more blood than what my healing properties could keep up with.

When Lily finally woke up, her eyes widened in shock when she realized that my finger was in her mouth again.

I wanted to tease her but I didn’t have the energy in me. And I think Lily saw that too when she looked down at my bleeding palm.

“Oh, my Goddess! Your Majesty, what happened?!”

Lily quickly jumped out of bed and ran into our closet. She came out moments later with a First-Aid kit.

She took the bandages out from the kit and began to nurse my wounds. I observed her features as she meticulously wrapped the dressing around my hand.

“You know you don’t have to do that, right? I can still heal myself, it’s just…”

She looked up at me with those big and curious eyes. “It’s just what?”

“Nothing to worry yourself about. I lost a lot of blood just then. So, while my healing abilities still work, they’re just a bit slower now.”

Lily nodded her head as if she understood, but she continued to carefully dress my wounds as if to be on the safe side.

I couldn’t help but admire her at that moment. She was still willing to help me even though I had made her feel terrible about the entire Alex situation.

Her heart is something else…

“Thank you.” I managed to say back.

I sat up on the bed and took Lily into my arms. After a while, she relaxed into my embrace.

The Fire Wolf inside of me began to calm down once he could also feel the warmth of Lily’s affections. Lily was the only one who could calm our raging, intertwined spirit. I couldn’t believe that I had found my salvation in this life.

It was then that I also realized that I never wanted Lily to leave. I wanted her, and only her.

I pulled back to look into her eyes. “Do you still want to leave me, Lily?”

I really won’t know what to do with myself if you decide you want to leave…

Lily looked back at me as a gentle smile formed on her lips. She shook her head. “No… I’d like to stay.”

I nodded my head and gave her a small smile. I felt rejuvenated by her answer but wanted to keep my true excitement hidden. “Good.”
