Chapter Twenty-One
Chapter Twenty-One
A Different Reality
Leo’s POV
News of my son’s murder came back to me quickly. I knew that, based on the information Alex had shown me, that convincing miss Lily to join our cause into eliminating the Lycan King would be difficult.
But I didn’t imagine that it was going to come to this.
When we arrived at the villa, it was in ruins. The first thing I noticed was the blood that dripped from the third-story balcony.
I couldn’t believe it myself but I already knew in my heart what the truth was.
I made sure to give Alex and all the others a proper burial. I had the mansion cleaned, had the furniture replaced, and then I set my plan into motion.
I made my way to the villa–a large home but still smaller than the other properties I owned. I had intended to keep the Lycan King and his maid close by. So, I thought, what better way to do that than to offer them a new home?
To ensure that I didn’t look like I was coming as a threat and to seem like I wasn’t trying to retaliate against the Lycan King, I only brought one other with me–my beta, Derrick.
I knocked on the front door, taking deep breaths and trying to calm my nerves. I was about to come face-to-face with my son’s murderer, but I needed to make sure I presented myself well so I wouldn’t ruin the plan.
Your death will not be in vain, Alex…
When the door opened, I saw the maid, Lily. Directly behind her on the stairs was the Lycan King.
The maid bowed. “Alpha Leo… Sir.” She nodded at my beta. “Please, come in.”
“Did I tell you they could come in?” The Lycan King’s strong voice asked.
“N-no, Your Majesty.”
The Lycan King’s expression was stern but he then shrugged his shoulders, walking up to Lily and holding her waist. “You may let them in.”
The maid moved out of the way to allow me and Derrick to enter. We stood in the foyer underneath the large chandelier. Looking around the home, I was surprised to see that everything was in relatively good condition.
“So,” the Lycan King addressed me first. “What brings you here? Here to yell at me for offing that mutt son of yours?”
I smiled as I bit the inside of my cheek to hold my tongue. “Ah, no, Your Majesty. If anything, I apologize that it even came to that. I imagine he offended you greatly.”
Even though you probably deserved it, tyrant!
The Lycan King nodded his head at me. “Interesting. Didn’t think I’d get an apology for killing your kid but, I’ll accept it. So, if you’re not here about that, then what the hell are you here for?”
“Well, I came here to offer you Alex’s home as a gift. I know you and your maid picked the villa for a reason, but I can assure you that the mansion will be more than a suitable upgrade. Larger home, spacious backyard. It also had an indoor pool and jacuzzi, as well as an outdoor pool.”
I looked past the Lycan King to look into his backyard, spotting the three-headed beast. “I’m sure your loyal guardian would love to have more room to run around in, too.”
The Lycan King was quiet, his expression seemed unamused. His maid, Lily, seemed to be looking up at him with concern.
I wonder if she has any suspicions…
After a few moments of silence, the Lycan King finally spoke up. “What’s your game?”
“I’m sorry?”
“You’re not an idiot and neither am I. Do you expect me to believe that you’re offering your dead son’s home to me out of the kindness of your heart?”
Every time he emphasized my son being dead, anger stirred in my heart. I didn’t need him to remind me how freshly broken my heart was.
Yet, I stood before him as calm and composed as ever. I made a promise to Alex and the Moon Goddess that I would exact my revenge one day.
I knew that I needed to keep a close eye on the Lycan King and his maid. Alex’s home had been set up with a few cameras just so we could do that. I needed to see for myself just how powerful his Fire Wolf was.
For the past few years, I had been breeding those damned lycans for their blood. It was what had been keeping my pack in power for so long. No one could oppose our power.
Just recently, however, I had been trying to breed a new Fire Wolf. My scientists think that it’s possible to have our own that could match the Lycan King’s Fire Wolf, and from what I heard, they were making good progress.
But they wanted to collect data on the Lycan King and his Fire Wolf. They knew that the power gap between ours and his wasn’t even comparable. So, even though I wanted to kill him right here and now… I knew I couldn’t.
Not yet, anyway.
It’s all a game of chess, and I’m always thinking 10 steps ahead.
Bringing myself back to the conversation, I smiled at the Lycan King. “Well, yes. I told you that the Night Walker Pack is at your service. Seeing as how my son greatly offended you and that you have dealt with him justly, I thought it would be appropriate to offer you his once prized possession.”
“If anything, consider it an apology gift. You can choose to stay in this small and beautiful villa, but my men will be ready to move your things to the mansion, should you choose to accept our humblest apologies.” I bowed.
The Lycan King was quiet again, although only for a few seconds. It seemed like he didn’t want to waste time making his decision. “Well, I accept your apologies then. A big house will be good for me and the dog.”
“Excellent news, Your Majesty. I’ll send my men to collect your things and have you all settled in by tonight. And if you want, we can escort you back to the mansion now.” I looked at my beta, Derrick, who had been quiet this whole time.
Derrick fisted his hand over his heart and bowed at the Lycan King.
The Lycan King shrugged his shoulders. “Sure. Lily, go fetch Cerberus and a small backpack. We’ll be leaving soon.”
The maid bowed at the Lycan King, me, and then my beta before retreating up the stairs to pack lightly.
“We’ll be waiting outside, Your Majesty.”
Derrick and I exited the home and walked out to the start of the walkway. When we were alone, Derrick turned to me with a concerned expression.
“I hope you know what you’re doing, Leo…”
I scoffed. “That arrogant tyrant isn’t going to know what’s hit him. He took my pride and joy away from me and made a mockery out of it!”
Derrick was silent.
“Whatever it takes–he will pay!”
