My Sweet, Tyrant Lycan Mate

Chapter Thirty-One

Chapter Thirty-One

Following The Lead

Lily’s POV

Everything happened so fast that I had no time to react. Zack barged into the room and pulled the man, throwing him against the wall.

Then Zack glared at the woman the man was having sex with. “Leave if you know what’s good for you.” He growled.

The woman hastily brought her dress up to cover her chest and ran out of the room crying.

Zack grabbed the man by his throat and pinned him to the wall. “Who are you and how the fuck do you have that mark on your back?!”

I tried to grab on to Zack’s arm and pull him off of the man but his grip was too strong. “Zack, stop! You’re hurting him!”

“Who fucking cares?” Zack snarled. “You don’t get it, do you?!”

“You haven’t been explaining a damn thing to me, so excuse me if I don’t!” I yelled back.

Zack groaned and turned the man around, shoving his chest against the wall. On the man’s back were three downward claw marks with a crescent moon in the middle.

“He’s a lycan!” Zack roared.

I gasped and took a step back, letting go of his arm. “I-I thought you were the last lycan alive…?”

My mind raced with thoughts before settling on the day that Zack and I first came down from Blackwell Hills together. Zack had the members of the Night Walker Pack fight.

“Who said I was the last lycan?” Zack’s words replayed in my mind after the fight was over.

“I… I don’t understand…” My head was spinning.

“The day that I opened the gates was the day that my Fire Wolf picked up on the auras of my people. I thought all the lycans were dead, too…” Zack began to explain, his grip never loosened from the man’s throat.

“The story’s complicated and there’s a lot of knowledge about how my Fire Wolf picked up on it, but essentially, he was able to feel their presence by traveling a whole different plane of existence–one that can only be accessed by pure-bloods.” He continued.

“The Fire Wolf is sensitive to the suffering of all lycans and that’s all he’s been able to pick up on. But I wasn’t sure that they still existed…” His eyes narrowed on the man. “Until now.”

“So, either this asshole tells me who he is and brings me back to his pack, or he dies.” Zack threatened the man.

The man tapped on Zack’s arm as he tried to speak with limited oxygen. “M-Max… My n-name i-is Max.”

Zack threw the man to the ground.

Max coughed as he tried to calm his staggered breathing. “My name is Max of the Star Holders Pack… I’m the alpha…”

Zack sneered. “What alpha needs to go to a whore house to find someone to mate with him? Pathetic.”

“It-it’s not like that.” Max’s gaze fell to the ground.

I placed my hand on Max’s arm and gave him a reassuring smile. “Then tell us what it is like… we might be able to help you.”

I looked up at Zack who was glaring at me. I took my hand off of Max but still kept my friendly smile.

“So… You’re a pure-blood?” Max asked Zack as he rubbed his neck

Zack nodded his head. “You can’t sense that?”

Max shook his head. “Am I supposed to be able to?”

Zack became enraged again but I rushed to his side and held my hand on his arm.

“Zack… What’s going on? Talk to me, please…” My voice was soft and gentle. I still had no idea what was going on. If anything, I was still shocked at the fact we had found another lycan.

I thought that Zack would’ve been happy with that new revelation but now he looked more pissed than he usually did.

“Take us back to your packhouse,” Zack commanded. “And that’s not a question.”

I looked up at Zack as his eyes became red, signaling that he could shift into his Fire Wolf form at any moment.

Fear flashed in Max’s eyes as he nodded his head frantically. “Okay, okay!”

We walked through the damp and depressing streets of Pine City for a while. I honestly thought that maybe he was leading us into a trap.

But after some time, we came across a large home that was just barely on the outskirts of the city itself. There were gates around the entire property with two guards at the entrance.

“Alpha Max,” one of them saluted. “Who are these people?”

“Good friends from out-of-state. They just flew in not that long ago and their reservation at the hotel got canceled for no damn reason.” Max lied effortlessly.

The guard observed us for a few seconds before opening the gates. “We hope you enjoy your stay with us.” Though their sentiment was friendly, their demeanor wasn’t.

The inside was almost reminiscent of the mansion but it was in a decrepit state. Cobwebs littered the corners of the house while wallpaper was torn in several spots along the wall. There was even a hole that looked like someone punched in.

As we stepped inside, an older man had come down the stairs. His eyes looked at us for a brief moment before glaring at Max.

“Who are these people?”

“Father, they’re good friends that I met a while–”

“You know what, I don’t care.” His tone was cold. “Where the hell have you been?”

Max’s father grabbed Max by his wrist and dragged him into another room.

I looked up at Zack. “Stay here… Let me go see what they’re talking about.”

I was a lot lighter on my feet than Zack and because the house was such in a rundown state, it caused a lot of creaking wherever he walked. Luckily for me, I didn’t have that issue.

I tiptoed to what I assumed was the kitchen. Max’s father luckily had his back turned towards me.

“Where the hell have you been, Max?! You haven’t been avoiding your duties, have you?”

“No, father. I haven’t. I visited the brothel again today, I promise” Max shuddered as if he didn’t like the fact that he had to admit it.

“Good… good…” The father’s tone had calmed down as he patted Max on the shoulder. “You know this whole pack is depending on you producing more children, Hell, your sister finally gave birth to her child, and you know what she had?”

Max shook his head.

“A girl.” The father’s eyes lit up like he had won a prize. “The baby girl is being sent to The Garden in two days' time.”

“I just hope something good comes out of this so we can get paid from the Alpha…” The father spoke.

“Which fucking alpha?”

I jumped and turned around to see an enraged Zack standing behind me.
