My Sweet, Tyrant Lycan Mate

Chapter Thirty

Chapter Thirty

A Lead Towards the Truth

Zack’s POV

I was glad to get out of that nasty-ass motel this morning. I hated subjecting myself to anything less-than but it was worth it once we arrived in the city of Pine City–home of the Star Holders Pack.

Before yesterday, the Fire Wolf was dormant. He usually didn’t do that unless he was scouting the Parallel Plane for clues about the disappearance of our kin.

The Parallel Plane was exactly what it sounded like–the same plane of existence that I was on, but specifically for the Fire Wolf to traverse. It helped since he could cover any distance within a fraction of the time it would take me.

The downside was that it drained the Fire Wolf and he would become more agitated after using a lot of his power.

It wasn’t until Isabella showed up that the Fire Wolf came back and told me that we had to leave. He had found a clue about the supposed missing lycans.

He told me not to leave any loose ends, so, I ended up burning the entire mansion with Isabella inside. It was also part of the reason why I lied about Lily being dead.

My life was already on the line and I could tell that we were close to uncovering a dark secret. I wanted Lily by my side, but I didn’t want her to go down with me.

So, I had been keeping a lot of things from her and had also faked her death.

It wasn’t what I wanted to do. It was what I had to do.

Once we arrived at the city gates, we were told that Cerberus had to remain outside. Surprisingly, they didn’t seem confused nor scared of a three-headed beast, but I figured that they had seen far worse monsters among men anyway.

Criminals ran the streets as addiction and greed fueled their lifestyle. Violence ran through the DNA of most, if not all of the people here. And sex was the only comfort in this hell hole.

It was a city of degenerates.

The Fire Wolf growled in the back of my mind. “There’s a small building up ahead you need to scout. Red neon lights… A sign of a woman’s leg with fishnets… It’s a brothel, I think.

“Only men are allowed in there, though. I can’t leave Lily outside.”

The Fire Wolf let out a huff. “It’s called a disguise, idiot.”

I took Lily into the alleyway before the brothel and had her change into my clothes. They didn’t fit her but luckily, she had some hair-ties and was able to secure the loose parts and hide them. I also gave her one of my hats to shove her long hair under.

“Stay close to me, okay? And let me do all the talking. As far as anyone’s concerned, you lost your voice from a concert or something. Understood?”

Lily shook her head.

“Good girl.”

When we entered the brothel, the front desk had no receptionist. The Fire Wolf growled in my mind again.

“Good for nothing workers are never around when you need them, huh? No matter, just look on the ground.”

When I looked down, I saw the red outlines of large paw prints that belonged to my Fire Wolf.

“The trail should lead you to where the man should be. I was only able to skip forward in time on the Parallel Plane by just a few minutes so you have to be quick.”

I nodded my head as me and Lily started following my Fire Wolf’s trail. There was only one other time that he needed to mark a trail for me and I found out quickly that if I fucked around for too long, the prints on the ground would disappear.

It felt like we looped through the same hallway 7 times but that was because all of the damn hallways looked the same. I thought we weren’t going to find this lead.

But as we rounded the corner, we came to a hallway that only had two rooms at the end. The trails led to the door on the right. Luckily for us, the doors were beaded curtains. Which made it easier for me to look through.

“Lily,” my tone was hushed. “Just keep an eye out for anyone else who might be coming down the hall. Tap my arm three times if you see someone, okay?”

She nodded her head.

I peeked my head through the door to see a man flirting with one of the prostitutes. His back was turned to me, while the woman was on her knees in front of him.

“What the hell am I supposed to be looking for?”

The Fire Wolf laughed. “What? Not enjoying the show? The person you’re looking for is that man who’s getting his manhood sucked. You’ll need to follow him to confirm something a theory I’ve had.”

I rolled my eyes as I peeked my head back into the room. The man had just pulled his pants back up and was turning around to head out the door.

I immediately pulled myself back and hung my head as if I was just another ordinary man looking for some fun at a brothel.

When the man came out, I saw that his footsteps had stopped right in front of me. I kept my head down so I wouldn’t look at him and arouse any suspicions.

After what felt like an eternity, the man finally moved. I tilted my head slightly to see that he had gone into the room across from us. This made snooping on him a little bit easier.

I watched as the man flirted with the other prostitute inside the room. He then pushed her onto the bed and proceeded to take off his shirt.

The Fire Wolf roared in my mind as fire set my body ablaze.

“Lycan!” He roared. “He’s a lycan!”
