My Sweet, Tyrant Lycan Mate

Chapter Thirty-Six

Chapter Thirty-Six

– The Lycan King’s Past

Lily’s POV

After Zack left with Miles to go investigate The Garden, I proceeded to clean up the house. I needed to keep myself busy so I wouldn’t worry so much. I sent a silent prayer to the Moon Goddess that everything was going to be alright.

Although, given how dire the situation was, I knew it was going to be far from it.

I started with the dishes, cleaning up the ones Miles used for breakfast. Once I was done with that, I began doing laundry. I never got the chance to do it back at the mansion before we left. But luckily, it wasn’t as big of a load as I thought it was.

The appliances at the Star Holder’s mansion were worn down–much like the place itself. I had to be careful and take things light and slow so I wouldn’t break anything. The clothes took the most time out of my day away but there was still a lot of time until nightfall.

Once I was done with laundry, I swept around the house and cleared the corners of cobwebs. I tried to make the place more presentable despite the damage that had been done over time. It made me sad to think about just how long Miles and his family had been living in these conditions.

The chores took me a few hours to complete. When I read the clock, it said 1:05 P.M.

I shook my head.

There’s nothing else to do and not even Max is home, so I have no one to talk to… Not even the TV works and the reception out here is terrible, so I have no internet either.

I dragged myself back up the stairs to the room Zack and I shared, thinking that maybe I could just take a nap to have time go by faster. When I opened the door to what I thought was our room, I was pleasantly surprised to see a small library.

It wasn’t like the library room back at the other mansion but there were still a ton of books to choose from. There were a lot of classics like Frankenstein and Dracula, but I wasn’t interested.

As I grazed my fingers along the spines of each book, I came across one that was completely out of place. Pulling it from the shelf, I gasped to see that it was a journal.

Dust had collected on it, so I knew that no one had touched it recently. I skimmed the first few pages to try and find out who it belonged to but there was no name.

It still has to be someone from the pack who wrote this… Otherwise, why would it be here?

As I started to read the first few pages of the writing, I quickly found out that it was all information about Zack’s past. Clutching the journal to my chest, I went back to the bedroom and continued to read it.

Luna Brianna was Zack’s mom and leader of the most powerful group of lycans–the Leaders of the Moon pack. She was married to the pack’s alpha, David before he passed away mysteriously. The journal never elaborated on it.

It also didn’t explain how Luna Brianna died either. But it went on to explain that after she died, all hell broke loose against the lycans.

Several rival werewolf packs sought the blood of the lycans for their selfish gains.

Many of them wanted more power to help them in the wars over resources.

Some wanted power as a means of seducing women.

Reading the list of packs that participated in the assassination attempts against Zack, I saw that the Star Holders pack was one of them.

My heart dropped. Miles and Max had been so helpful to us, even though it was mostly because Zack didn’t give them a chance not to be. I didn’t want to believe that they had other motives other than wanting to be kind.

Or maybe they’re making amends for a past they felt guilty about?

I shook my head as I continued to read. The journal went on to say that once Zack found his home atop the Blackwell Hills, he began to fight back. And hard.

The werewolf packs who were following the orders of the Mad Alpha Charles were dying as soon as they even stepped foot on the mountain. Whoever wrote it thought that there was some taboo magic going on that protected the Lycan King.

It was further reinforced when the writer said that they saw the three-headed beast as it “clawed its way out of the depths of Hell to protect the evil and ruthless Lycan King.”

“The Lycan King would purposely trap all enemies, luring them with the scent of his blood. People spoke about how they could hear the screams of the werewolves and the sounds of a beast, who was never satisfied, ripping them to shreds.” I read out loud, my voice was barely above a whisper.

The time I had spent with Cerberus running around in the backyard of the villa and sharing soft kisses with Zack almost made me forget about their brutality. I shivered at the memory of him burning Alice alive when I first arrived at his castle.

I looked out of the window and saw that night had approached. I didn’t even realize how long I had been reading the journal.

Zack still hadn’t come back from The Garden and though I was worried, I knew there was nothing I could do. Please keep him safe, O’ Moon Goddess.

As I continued to read, the writer had jotted down something about the werewolf packs scouring the planet for a wizard. Wizards and witches were such reclusive people–more than my own pack–so I thought they just didn’t exist.

But apparently, they found one. They pleaded for the witch’s help in killing the ruthless Lycan King once and for all.

The witch gifted the werewolves a special dagger made of silver. They took it and used it to wound Zack and trap him on the mountain.

But some notes were scribbled in revealing that though they tried to kill him, they didn’t know about his weakness during a new moon until later.

I laughed at the words. Well, I suppose I got lucky with their ignorance. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have met you, Zack…

As if on cue, the door behind me slammed open and I jumped at the sight of Zack standing there. Blood covered him from head to toe.

“Zack!” I closed the journal and immediately ran up to him. I took his arm and immediately let go after feeling the intense heat that radiated off of his skin.

I looked down at my fingers to see that I was slightly burned.

“Zack…” My voice started to tremble. “What’s wrong? Why are you so hot?”

Zack’s eyes never left mine. “Lily… I’m dying.”
