Chapter 2
Chapter 2
When I got home, I lounged on the sofa, savoring a steak with a glass of red wine in one hand and an iPad in the other. Before long, a group of well-dressed men and women appeared on the screen, Liam and our classmates.
At the villa entrance, Liam knocked persistently, but no one answered. The students grew impatient, and his face darkened. Soon, my phone buzzed. I didn't even glance at it. On the monitor, Liam's expression soured as he kept calling, his frustration mounting with every ignored attempt. His grip tightened around his phone, and for a moment, it looked like he might hurl it against the wall. Our classmates tried to comfort him, but their faces showed mixed emotions.
After half an hour of waiting in vain, they finally gave up. Curious, I checked the group chat and saw that they had gone to a high-end restaurant nearby. Meanwhile, Liam continued his relentless attempts to reach me.
[Selina, what's wrong with you? Why aren't you answering my calls?]
[I told you we were going to the villa today! Why didn't you have someone open the door? Do you know how embarrassed I was in front of everyone?]
Two hours later, after discovering his bank card was declined, he spammed me with dozens of 60-second voice messages.
[Selina, explain why I can't use the black card. Did you do something?]
[You know I'm treating our classmates to dinner. Transfer me $500,000 right now!]
[Are you deaf? I'm talking to you!]
…
I rolled my eyes and blocked him.
Later, I heard he had to max out all his credit cards to cover the restaurant bill. Serves him right.
That evening, when Liam finally returned home, I was on the sofa playing games. The moment he stepped in, he snatched my phone and hurled it against the wall, shattering it into pieces. I clicked my tongue in annoyance and glared at him.
His face was grim as he demanded, "Selina, what the hell is going on? Why can't I use my black card?"
I sneered. "Your black card?"
Liam didn't hesitate. "You gave it to me, so it's mine. Now call the bank and fix it, I need money."
Looking at his shameless face, I struggled to remember what I had ever liked about him. My expression turned cold. "Liam, from this moment on, we have nothing to do with each other. I'm not giving you another penny. Pack your things and get out of my house."
His eyes widened in disbelief. "Selina, are you serious? This is my home too! What right do you have to kick me out?"
I nearly laughed at his audacity. He had lived here because I let him, and now he was acting as if he owned the place.
Before I could say another word, a middle-aged woman strolled in. "What's with all the yelling? What happened?"
It was Liam's mother, Amy. Ever since I started dating Liam, she had acted as if she were the mistress of this house, bossing around the staff and doing nothing herself. I had tolerated it before, but not anymore.
Liam's lips curled into a smirk as he turned to her. "Mom, Selina wants to break up with me and is kicking me out of the house."
Amy's expression darkened. "Selina, I don't mean to criticize you, but how can you dump Liam so suddenly? You'll never find another man as handsome and considerate as him."
Handsome and considerate?
I glanced at Liam's average, greedy face and nearly burst out laughing. There were thousands of men like him.
With a look of disdain, I said flatly, "Not just him. You, too, get out of my house."
Perhaps I had indulged them too much in the past, because they didn't take me seriously at all.
Amy huffed. "Selina, if you keep acting like this, I'll be really mad."
Liam's face turned red with anger. "Selina, show some respect for my mother. Apologize to her."
Not everyone deserves respect.
I had no intention of wasting any more breath on them. "I'll ask one last time, are you leaving willingly, or will I have to throw you out?"
Amy, who had lived here for so long that she seemed to think the place was hers, snorted. "I'd like to see who dares to make me leave."
Liam stood behind her, brimming with arrogance.
I smirked and made a call.
