Chapter 7
Chapter 7
When the students found out they had to pay back the money, they immediately started complaining. One of them confidently walked up to me and said, "Selina, your family is rich. You don't need to worry about this little bit of money."
"Yeah, Liam was always generous when he had money," another chimed in. "He treated us to dinner every day."
"We won't ask for anything more, but it'd be nice if you let us keep the stuff he gave us as gifts."
I smirked. "Based on what? Why don't you give me a gift instead?"
One classmate, clearly getting annoyed, snapped, "Why are you so stingy? It's just a little money. You don't have to act like it's the end of the world."
I shot her a mocking look. "If you're so generous, why don't you pay for everyone?"
She immediately shut up, and the rest of the class fell silent.
After that, I became the "evil capitalist" in the eyes of my classmates. But Tom, Liam's sidekick, wasn't done yet. He'd made quite a bit of cash off Liam over the past two years, so naturally, he thought he owed me something.
One day, he swaggered into the classroom, wearing a white tank top that showed off his biceps.
"Selina, what do you think of me? I'm just as good as Liam. If you're with me, I promise no one will mess with you."
"I'm not like Liam. You don't need to give me a black card, but how about a Porsche? Or an Audi A8, either one is fine."
Was he for real? And to top it off, he smelled terrible. I pinched my nose and leaned back.
"Stay away from me. You're disgusting."
The entire class burst into laughter. Tom's face turned bright red, and he stormed out. Later, I found out that Liam had beaten him up. A video of the fight got posted online. Tom had beaten Liam to a pulp.
"Damn it, if you don't have money, why are you pretending like you're something big? How am I supposed to come up with enough money to pay Selina back?"
Liam was on the ground, begging for mercy. He cared more about his reputation than anything. After that, he disappeared from school and never showed up again.
But even though Liam was gone, the drama didn't stop. Amy, his mother, started harassing me every single day. One day she'd cry and beg for forgiveness, and the next, she'd curse me out. She even showed up at my parents' company, causing a scene.
I told my parents everything and asked them to ignore her and get her out of there. For a while, things were quiet, but after everything I'd been through in my past life, I wasn't about to let my guard down.
It wasn't long before I realized someone was following me. Every day, a van would park across from the south gate of the school and follow me. They thought they were being sneaky, but I noticed right away.
One day, I decided to play it smart. I told my driver not to pick me up and took a less-traveled route. Sure enough, they followed me the entire way. When they weren't paying attention, I ducked into an alley.
The van couldn't follow, so they had to get out and chase me on foot. As soon as they rounded the corner, I turned to them with a sweet smile.
"Hey! Looking for me?"
By the time they realized what was happening, it was too late. The police were already there. Even Liam, who had been waiting in the van, was arrested.
It turned out the people following me were Liam's friends from the countryside, and they'd planned to kidnap me for ransom. They were the ones who killed me in my past life. Some of them were wanted criminals. This time, they couldn't get away.
When my parents found out what happened, they were beyond shaken. They immediately hired bodyguards to watch over me.
As for Liam, he was sentenced to five years in prison for blackmail and kidnapping. After his arrest, he kept asking to see me, begging for my forgiveness in hopes of getting a lighter sentence. But I wasn't about to show mercy to a criminal who had killed my family in a past life and tried to kidnap me in this one.
I refused to see him.
After the trial, Liam was furious. He yelled, "Selina, you ruined my life."
"Selina, just wait. I won't forget this. I'll make you pay."
"Selina..."
But even after Liam was locked up, Amy didn't stop. She tried to cause trouble for me several more times. But it all came crashing down when she stole millions of dollars' worth of jewelry from her new employer.
Her employer reported her to the police, and she was arrested too. Amy was sent to prison.
