Revenge on My Gold-Digger Ex

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

After the whole money incident, the students quickly learned not to mess with me. They handed the money back without a fuss, and honestly, I couldn't be bothered to engage with them anymore. By the time junior year ended, I was deep into my internship at the company. I spent less time at school and had fewer chances to run into them, but I stayed alert, knowing someone might try to ruin my graduation thesis.

Sure enough, right before graduation, the same old drama happened again. I was accused of plagiarism, this time, by Cathy.

But I had been prepared. I made the surveillance footage public for the entire class to see. The video clearly showed Cathy sneaking into my bag after class, stealing my computer, copying my thesis, and returning it like nothing happened.

When the video went around, everyone was in shock. Cathy quickly confessed, admitting she'd done it to get back at me for Liam. I had no idea she was so obsessed with him. Like me in my past life, she became the school's target and got expelled. It was honestly pathetic, she ruined her future over a guy who wasn't worth it.

After that, I graduated without any more drama and started working at the company. The years flew by, and I managed to put Liam and the past behind me… until one day, I saw the headline: Liam is dead.

Apparently, after Liam got out of prison, the gang that had been planning to kidnap me had turned on him. They killed him and dumped his body in a cold river. It was a wild mix of shock and satisfaction. I didn't exactly mourn him, but it wasn't like I was celebrating either. Still, I had a drink with a few friends to toast to the end of that ###Chapter.

In the fourth year after graduation, my parents decided it was time for me to go on a blind date. Liam's shadow still loomed over them, so they were strict about who I should date. They insisted on someone from the "right" social circle.

I reluctantly agreed to meet the guy they had chosen. When I walked in and saw him, I froze. It was Sheldon. He smiled at me like no time had passed, and suddenly, I was back in high school, remembering all the feelings I'd had for him. If he hadn't moved abroad, Liam would've never had a chance to catch my eye.

Sheldon stretched out his hand, and I couldn't help but smile.

“Selina, did I come too late?”

I grinned, my heart pounding in my chest.

“No! You came back just in time...”

We shared a look, and for the first time in a long while, I felt something real again, something completely different from the shadows of the past.
