Sharing Night
Sharing Night
"Bea, I'm sorry," said Henry, Beatrice's father when they were sitting together on the balcony of the rooftop villa, where the wedding will take place the day after tomorrow.
Beatrice looked at him, his old face looked very tired, and his hair has turned all white.
"It's okay, Dad, I completely understand," said Beatrice briefly, she didn't want to talk too much because she didn't want to shed a tear in front of her Dad on her very special day, at least that was what people might think.
"He looks like a good kid though," said Henry while looking at Luke who was busy chatting with Leah. Beatrice shrugged, "Well I hope so," she looked at her husband-to-be and silently agreed with her father's words because Luke has been quite good lately.
"Um, what did he say to you that brought you here?" she asked curiously. Henry smoked his cigarette, then exhaled it slowly.
"He called me, saying that he loves you so much and wanted to marry you soon, he even told me that I don't need to worry about all my debt,"
"He said that his family was a bit strict about the affairs of his future wife, so he asked me and the others to cooperate, to change our family background, well maybe he meant for us to pretend to be rich, he also said that you work as a ghost, I don't know what kind of ghost was he saying..." asked Henry, frowning.
Beatrice laughed, "It's a ghostwriter," she said. Henry chuckled, "Yeah that one, a famous ghostwriter in America, I don't mind a little bit of drama, the important thing is that our family problems are solved. You are happily married and my debt is also paid off perfectly right?" he chirped as if Beatrice had married Luke because they loved each other.
After she was done talking with her father, she approached Luke and Leah who were busy discussing football.
"Come here!" Leah pulled her to sit on her lap.
"Are you sure you guys want to get married? I'm still confused about the two of you," Leah looked at Beatrice and Luke alternately.
"When did you know him, why do you suddenly want to get married? And why do you have to lie about everything in front of Luke's family, you have to pretend to be rich, pretend to be a famous ghostwriter in the US, you two have nothing to hide, right?" Leah squinted curiously;y.
Beatrice was silent, waiting for Luke to answer while Luke took a glance at her, then looked back at Leah again.
"It's nothing, I need to lie to my family because my mother won't agree if I marry someone from a poor family, that's all!" said Luke lightly.
Beatrice's eyes narrowed immediately.
"What did you say, poor family? I'm not that poor! And you know it!" scolded her annoyed. Then she got into an argument with Luke, they looked like two teenagers instead of two adults.
Leah's eyes began to squint suspiciously, something was wrong with her best friend's wedding plans.
"You have to talk to me alone tonight!" Leah said firmly before leaving both of them who were still arguing.
Tired of arguing that ended in no one willing to budge, finally they were both silent and sat looking at the crashing of the dark Mediterranean ocean.
"Tomorrow my family will come," said Luke without turning his head. Beatrice immediately gasped,
"Seriously?! Oh God I'm not ready to meet your Mom!" shrieked Beatrice frantically. She could imagine that she would be severely bullied by her future mother-in-law.
"My friend will prepare everything, you just need to be nice to my parents, thats' all! You better be good!" added Luke who sounded serious.
Beatrice shuddered at the thought of it, she was afraid that her disguise would be exposed. She was afraid of being scolded by Luke's parents.
"Ugh Luke, I'm scared!" she said then covered her face with her hands.
Luke chuckled,
"Do you want the money or not? So learn to act from now on!" said Luke as he patted Beatrice's shoulder and walked into the villa.
Beatrice walked unsteadily, then knocked on the room occupied by Leah. Before long Leah opened the door holding the phone to her ear. She signaled her to wait a moment.
"Here you are!" said Leah after turning off her phone.
"Who did you talk to?" asked Beatrice as she got up to approach her.
"My husband, I missed him already!" a smile broke on Leah's face.
Beatrice threw her body on Leah's bed, she stared at the roof of the room with her brain spinning thinking about tomorrow. For some reason, she was very afraid to meet Luke's family, especially his mother.
"So you want to tell me everything or not?" asked Leah lying on her side looking at her, her head propped up with her right hand.
Beatrice took a deep breath.
"Yes, just shoot, I'll answer it, I'm confused about how to start," she said nervously.
"Okay, first, is this a real marriage in the true sense of the word or not?"
"No," Beatrice answered quickly, making Leah breathe out heavily, she had expected that answer.
Leah looked deeply at her as if reading her mind,
"How long have you known him?"
Beatrice looked like she was counting the days, "about a month," she answered confidently.
"Oh my gosh, why didn't you tell me! Really! You don't know him! He's a stranger and you're gonna marry him? Have you lost your mind!" Leah grumbled as she moved into a sitting position.
Beatrice grimaced, then laughed,
"It's not like that Leah, I know he's really really annoying! But he's not a bad person, me and him, we have made an official agreement with his lawyer in London, I also have a copy of that official contract," said her, defending Luke.
Leah just shook her head.
"So this is a matter of your father's debt, huh?" she asked, her voice starting to soften.
"Yes, instead of me marrying that old man! I'd rather marry Luke! Among the agreements I made, there was also a point regarding physical contact, I and him can't be 'doing that stuff', well you know what I mean," said Beatrice embarrassed by her own word.
Leah laughed,
"Impossible!"
"N, it;s not! We have lived in the same room since day one we met! He's never been weird with me!" Beatrice said defensively.
Leah squinted,
"Either Luke is not normal, or you are not that interesting HAHAHAHAA," joked Leah who was immediately given a hard pinch on her waist by Beatrice.
She immediately thought, that maybe she was not so attractive to him that he never tried to touch her.
"I'm just joking! I think it's simply because he respects you, that's why he never touches you," said Leah as if she could read her mind.
"But I'm still confused, what made him decide to marry you?" Leah asked curiously, beautiful girls were scattered everywhere, they could even be bought or contracted for less than 100 billion. Why does it have to be Beatrice?
As if she could read Leah's mind, Beatrice was stunned. She didn't know the answer either.
"I don't know, maybe it's because I'm beautiful, sexy, and smart, right?" joked her.
Leah immediately sneered showing a face that wanted to vomit.
"Leah, just don't tell anyone, okay? This is very secret because it concerns Luke's position in his father's company. He must get married to be able to sit in the CEO position instead of his father," said Beatrice, who although she was sure Leah would keep her mouth, still she needed to remind her.
With a quick movement, Leah moved her hand from right to left in front of her lips, as if she was zipping her lips.
"Secret is secret," said her and then blinked one eye so Beatrice wouldn't think about it.
"Yeah, now I want you to pretend to be his mother. I need to practice the dialogue, so I won't be nervous tomorrow!" she said nervously.
That night, she spent rehearsing the play with Leah. She also does research on her fake profession so that it didn't look like a lie. Hopefully tomorrow all the pretense of her and her family could run perfectly.
