You Only Get to See Our Twins in My Corpse

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Nine months into my pregnancy, my husband's first love, Evelyn, moved into our house under some ridiculous excuse. Every time she saw me, she'd clutch her chest, pretending to be heartbroken.

Alexander, my husband, actually believed I was showing off my baby bump just to upset her.

"Evelyn can't have children!" he yelled at me one night. "And here you are, flaunting that pregnancy like it's some kind of victory over her! You won't learn until I teach you a lesson!"

He had his men lock me in the old attic and told them not to bring me food.

I begged him, explaining that the doctor had warned me the twins were too large, and that I needed to be admitted to the hospital today for delivery.

But he just laughed, cold and dismissive, as if I'd made a joke. "Your due date's not for another three days. Quit playing the victim. Go to the attic and think about what you've done. This is your punishment for upsetting Evelyn!"

The contractions hit hard, and I was clawing at the door, my nails breaking as the pain grew unbearable. But no one came. My screams echoed in the attic for what felt like forever.

Three days later, I lay in a pool of blood, the lifeless twins still trapped in the bloody mess between my legs.

Alexander sat at the table, sipping a cup of coffee like nothing had happened. "Tell Lily to make me some proper coffee, and have her apologize to Evelyn. If she's sincere, send her to the hospital to give birth."

No one dared to answer.

Because the blood had already spread down to the second step of the stairs.

...

"Why isn't that jealous woman, Lily, crying anymore?"

"Sir... could something have happened to Mrs. Frost? Her screams last night were... gut-wrenching. It sounded like she was in agony..."

Alexander casually took a sip of his coffee, scoffing. "No one knows Lily like I do. She's just putting on a show. This time, I'm teaching her a lesson so she won't dare mess with Evelyn again."

The butler glanced nervously at the attic, hesitating before speaking. "But Mrs. Frost is carrying twins, and the doctor said she needed to be admitted early..."

Alexander paused mid-sip, his face softening just a touch. "Is that so?"

He stirred his coffee absently, a flicker of doubt flashing across his eyes. "Fine. Tell Lily to come out and make me some coffee, then have her apologize to Evelyn. If she's sincere, we'll send her to the hospital. Today's her due date, after all."

He heated up a cup of milk before walking into the guest room.

Evelyn was lying on the bed, her breathing slow and steady. The blanket had slipped down, revealing a teasing glimpse of her chest.

Alexander's gaze lingered on her for a moment too long before he reluctantly tore his eyes away. He leaned down and placed a kiss on her lips.

Evelyn slowly opened her eyes, stretching lazily, then pouted playfully. "Brother Alex~ You're bullying me again~"

Alexander parted his legs to let Evelyn settle into his lap, his fingers idly massaging her waist. "Who could resist when you look like that?"

Evelyn nestled against him, letting out a satisfied little hum. "But, sister Lily is carrying your child, working so hard... We're both women, I can't let you betray her when she's so vulnerable, can I?"

Suddenly, she sat up with a look of concern. "Last night, sister Lily was screaming so loud... is she in labor? Sigh... it hurts to hear her like that, but I'm kind of envious, you know? To carry Brother Alex's baby... even with all the pain of childbirth, it would be worth it. Such sweet happiness."

Sweet happiness?

By now, I was nothing but a ghost, floating aimlessly beside them.

In the attic, blood had pooled across the floor.

The walls were marked with deep scratches from my desperate attempts to escape, bits of flesh and nails still clinging to the jagged traces I left behind.
