From Cell to Crown- The Disgraced Heiress Returns

Chapter 24

Chapter 24

During this time, Dion made sure every detail was taken care of. He instructed his mother to keep an eye on Narissa and make sure she stayed indoors.

Fully prepared, Dion headed to Montmery, with someone posing as him behind the wheel. As expected, an attack took place along the way.

But it wasn't long before Dion, with the help of the police, managed to capture all the assailants. The investigation revealed that the Kingsley Family had hired them to kill him.

When Drake and his father were exposed and arrested, Dion faced Drake with a calm expression. "I never thought you'd lose your composure so quickly. Such a shame."

Drake shot to his feet, his face pale with rage. "Dion, did you do this on purpose?"

Dion remained indifferent, a cold smile curling on his lips. "How is this my fault? You wanted to kill me. I was simply defending myself."

Drake's eyes seethed with fury, his glare sharp enough to kill. But Dion remained unaffected, completely unshaken.

"By the way," Dion added casually, "I hear your company is involved in several violations. Looks like an investigation is coming your way."

Drake's father's expression shifted drastically. He lowered his head, his voice now meek. "Mr. Ashford, whatever you want, just name it. I'll agree to anything, as long as it's within my power."

Drake could no longer hold back his fury. "Dad, why are you begging him?"

Jordan shot back, "Shut up! If it weren't for you, none of this would have happened!"

Dion's smile remained cold and indifferent. "I'm afraid I can't agree with that. You didn't show me mercy when you plotted against me."

Jordan's face turned pale, his anger flaring. He muttered something in fury, but Dion didn't bother listening.

In the end, Drake had no choice but to accept the truth. Still seething, he arranged for someone to deliver a message to Narissa, asking her to visit him. It was then that Narissa discovered Dion's plan.

Days passed before she found out, and by then, she was furious. She refused to speak to him, and every time they crossed paths, she turned and walked away, her anger clear.

Dion hurried to her side, pulling her into an embrace. "Narissa, please, let me explain."

When Narissa looked up at him, Dion felt a pang of guilt. He immediately apologized. "Honey, I'm sorry. I was just worried you might get upset and harm the baby. They're not worth it."

Narissa scoffed, her voice cold. "Do you really think you did nothing wrong?"

Seeing the stunned look on his face, Narissa was both angry and almost amused. She turned to leave, but Dion quickly grabbed her arm. "Narissa, I'm really happy you're worried about me."

"What else do you have to say?" she asked, her irritation evident.

Dion gazed at her, his eyes softening with a gentle smile. "Narissa, I'm truly happy that you care about me. But I only acted after receiving the news. I didn't want to involve you and make you worry."

Narissa took a deep breath, her voice controlled. "Anything could've happened. If you're in danger, no one would be able to help you."

Dion paused for a moment before a soft smile spread across his face. "I know. I told my parents about the threat, but I didn't tell you because I didn't want to worry you."

He crouched in front of her, looking up at her with tenderness. Gently, he placed her hand on his face. "Narissa, I'm sorry. I was reckless. Please don't be mad at me."

To make it right, Dion promised, "This won't happen again. From now on, I won't hide anything from you, no matter what."

Eventually, Narissa forgave him. Soon after, she was scheduled for her hospital admission, just one day before her delivery.

The day of her delivery arrived, and she was in excruciating pain, drenched in sweat. Despite all the prenatal care, the pain was unbearable. Dion stood anxiously outside the operating room, his eyes red as he heard her weak, agonized screams.

Narissa's body was so fragile, and Dion couldn't help but think: How could she endure this?
