Chapter 16 They Are Both Embarrassed
Chapter 16 They Are Both Embarrassed
Jovanny didn't intend to live in this house, but he still felt uncomfortable when Gracelyn asked him to leave.
She made it sound like he was a monster.
He gave a faint smile for the first time in so many days, but Gracelyn found it creepy.
He put the orange on the table and leaned back on the sofa, staring at her indifferently.
"Don't forget we are married."
Gracelyn widened her eyes, and somehow, her heart skipped a beat. "Well, I know that."
"You do? Then why did you ask me to go to Grandpa's?"
"We don't have extra rooms." She didn't think before she answered. Then she regretted it.
Jovanny chuckled from anger.
He stood up and strode to his room.
Gracelyn felt something was wrong and quickly followed him. Then she saw him packing up the things on his table.
"I am sorry. I was wrong to say that. Don't take it to heart. I just don't know how to talk to them about these things."
Jovanny quickly gathered his belongings. Before she could finish, he walked out of the bedroom holding his things.
She followed behind and felt remorseful. She wanted to slap herself for hurting his feelings.
When she thought about how to explain to him, Jovanny went to her bedroom with his things.
Gracelyn stood at the door in a daze and forgot about what she wanted to say to him.
He put down his laptop and turned his head to look at her. "What were you saying?"
She blinked and shook her head stiffly. "No-nothing."
"Then can I sleep in this room?"
"Ye-yes."
Gracelyn realized something and blushed instantly.
When she married him, she prepared herself for this. But since they didn't sleep in the same room, she got used to his aloofness and forgot about the lovemaking.
Her face went hotter, and she turned around, running to the next room. "I will get your suitcase!"
Gracelyn found his suitcase in a corner. It was rarely opened, and his clothes weren't in the closet.
Perhaps he was too lazy to get the clothes in there, or perhaps he only took this house as a hotel for temporary occupancy.
His suitcase looked like it didn't belong in this house, just like him. It might disappear at every minute.
Gracelyn calmed herself down and took a deep breath. Then she pulled the suitcase to the next room.
She stood in front of Jovanny and lowered her head. "Do you need me to help you hang these clothes?"
He leaned against the doorframe and looked at her teasingly, saying, "Okay."
She pulled his suitcase into her bedroom and opened it. His clothes were left in a disorderly heap, and his toothbrush and toothpaste were on them. The water in his bottle seeped out and stained the clothes.
Philip put these things into the suitcase, and Jovanny never opened it since he got here. He was surprised by how messy it was inside.
They were both embarrassed.
Gracelyn pretended to be busy tidying up his suitcase. She emptied half of her closet and hung his clothes in there.
Jovanny looked at her for a while before saying, "I am going out." Then he left.
Soon, she heard the door was closed.
She paused and ran to the door to take a look. His coat was no longer on the couch, which meant he really went out.
Gracelyn heaved a sigh of relief.
But she turned her head and saw the documents on the table. She noticed the title "S&C's Comprehensive Seasonal Plan".
She paused. She never heard of S&C.
She reached for the document but withdrew her hand when she was about to touch it.
She shouldn't touch his things.

Jovanny didn't come back for the next few days.
Gracelyn felt nervous, afraid she said something wrong that night. Should she be honest with him about the money? He didn't say anything, but was he actually mad at her?
She didn't dare to tell Philip about this. However, Philip knew Jovanny didn't come home for many days because he didn't get to eat dinner with Jovanny.
Philip was angry and wanted to call Jovanny, but Gracelyn quickly stopped him. "Grandpa, he is probably busy. You don't need to call him."
Philip snorted coldly, "How can he be busy? You have been married for just a few days, but he didn't come home. It will only get worse."
She realized Philip insisted on calling Jovanny, and she got agitated. "Grandpa, he told me he would come home when he finished his work. Please don't disturb him."
Philip froze for a moment. "He told you that?"
She quickly nodded. "Yes. Rest assured. We are good."
Jovanny must be mad at her for the money. If Philip called him and forced him to come home, Jovanny would think Gracelyn said something to Philip. Jovanny would only dislike her more for it.
"Okay, then I believe you. But Grace, if he is bad to you, you must tell me. Understand?"
Gracelyn felt warm and nodded with a smile. "Okay, I will. With you on my side, he doesn't dare to bully me."
Philip smiled satisfactorily and said, "Fine. Then let's eat dinner."
Jovanny wasn't mad at Gracelyn. He was really busy with work these days. He had been in the company all this time and didn't know how many days had passed.
His assistant walked to him and handed a document to him. "Mr. Latimer, we have reached an agreement with Maple Technology Company. This is the contract. Please take a look."
Jovanny nodded and took the document, perusing it.
"Mr. Latimer, you haven't gone home for several days, right?"
"Yes," Jovanny answered without raising his head. Then he realized something and looked up at his assistant. "What day is today?"
"Saturday."
"Really?" Jovanny glanced at the date in the bottom right corner of the laptop screen and found it was indeed Saturday.
His assistant glanced at him timidly. Everyone in the company was saying Jovanny got married recently, but he still rarely went home.
"There is no problem with this contract." Jovanny closed the document and handed it to the assistant. "Stick to the original plan."
"Yes. I will have it followed up. You should go home to take a rest. I noticed you didn't sleep for many days."
Jovanny nodded and also thought he should go home. Otherwise, Philip would give him a lecture.
"Oh, right, there is one more thing. Mr. Dalton told me to inform you that you should go to tomorrow's board meeting. I have emailed you the time and location."
Jovanny took his jacket and answered. "Noted. You should also go home."
Jovanny drove to Lace Compound and reached his house. Then he saw Patrick and Gracelyn.
Jovanny frowned and wanted to drive over. But he saw Patrick throwing a bank card at Gracelyn's face.
Jovanny heard it hit her face in the car.
