Married to the Billionaire by Chance

Chapter 17 You Are Indeed an Idiot

Chapter 17 You Are Indeed an Idiot

Gracelyn was baffled as well. She stood still and took two steps back as she was slapped by the card.

Patrick called her out, saying that he would pay back the money, and she didn't expect it to be paid back this way.

And at that moment, Patrick's eyes were not tender or flattering. There was only hatred and anger in them.

"It's just 35 thousand dollars. How dare you find a lawyer to sue me? Gracelyn, I've seen your true colors. You are a fucking ungrateful bitch!"

Gracelyn stared at him incredulously, unable to believe that this was something from Patrick's mouth.

He hadn't even yelled at her in the past two years, and now for this 35 thousand dollars, he was actually cursing her in such a nasty way.

Gracelyn didn't know what mood she was in at the moment. She just felt disappointed. Even though she had long seen through this person, she didn't expect to hear such dirty words from his mouth when they fell out.

Gracelyn laughed, "Pick up the card."

It was Patrick's turn to be stunned. "What?"

"Since you're here to pay back the money, pick up the card and hand it over to me."

"Are you crazy?" Patrick was furious, pointing at Gracelyn and cursing. "Gracelyn, stop pretending. You've been dating me for two years, acting like a celibate, and now what?

"You're living with another man. I think you hooked up with him a long time ago. You even said you wanted to be with me for the rest of your life. Damn it, I want to vomit when I think about it now!"

Patrick said almost all the unpleasant words he could think of in a huff.

"You're just a bitch! You told me feelings can't be measured in money, and now you're with that guy. Isn't it just because he has a broken car? How ridiculous! Stop putting on a show."

He was now competing for the position of treasurer, and if this matter got out of hand, the position would be out of his reach.

Patrick had worked hard in this company for seven years after graduation. Finally, there was some hope. However, the 35 thousand dollars almost let him lose this opportunity.

He usually introduced himself as a treasurer to others, and he also told his relatives and friends that he was a treasurer when he went back to his hometown. If he failed to be selected this time, he would be found to have lied.

Patrick did not want to return the 35 thousand dollars, yet Gracelyn sent him a lawyer's letter.

When he received it, he thought about how he had gone to Gracelyn and said nice words. He was furious, feeling that he was a joke.

If Gracelyn really sued him, not only would he lose 35 thousand dollars, but he would also lose his job.

So as soon as he got the money, he came to Gracelyn in a rage and threw the card in her face.

Gracelyn quietly listened to his insults.

When Patrick was done, she suddenly raised her hand and slapped him without warning.

The place suddenly went silent. Patrick froze, and so did Jovanny over there, who was about to get out of the car.

After a while, Patrick covered his face and stared at Gracelyn in shock. "How dare you hit me?"

Gracelyn looked at him coldly and said, "Patrick, you deserve this slap just for those words.

"I've done so much for you in the past two years, but in your eyes, it's nothing. Honestly, I have to thank you for taking me to see your parents. Their words made me come to my senses, so I didn't continue to waste my time on you.

"Also, this 35 thousand dollars is mine. I gave it to you because you said you would use it to buy a house as our home, but your family is calculating. They want to have your father's name written on the deed, and they're trying to exclude me from the owners."

"Now I want it back as a matter of course. You're in no position to be angry. I already said that. If you're not convinced, we'll meet in court."

Gracelyn took a deep breath, and her voice calmed down. "Patrick, ask yourself how I've treated you in the past two years. After what has happened recently, the person who has the least right to be angry is you."

Her voice rang through the district, and many passersby ran over to watch, exchanging comments.

Patrick covered his face, reeling from the shock. It was unknown whether Gracelyn's words or her slap made his face burn.

Hearing the chatter around him, Patrick raised his hand to slap Gracelyn.

However, his hand was intercepted by a slender hand in the air.

Stunned, Patrick slowly looked up and saw Jovanny standing in front of him and gripping his wrist.

"It seems that you are indeed a jerk."

Jovanny's low voice sounded, and Gracelyn recovered herself. She looked at the man in front of her in surprise, not expecting that he would be back.

"Get off me!" Patrick struggled twice but couldn't break free. He glared at Jovanny.

Jovanny looked down at him and replied, "Patrick, right? You've come here several times to harass my wife, and it has seriously affected our normal life, as well as our safety, so..."

Jovanny glanced at Gracelyn. "I will file a lawsuit against you, and you will be held criminally responsible according to law."

Patrick was shocked at those words.

Jovanny threw his wrist away in disgust, pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, and wiped his fingers as if he had just touched something dirty.

This action was a humiliation to Patrick, and his eyes reddened in anger.

"Your wife? Gracelyn, you actually cheated on me! And you want to sue me. I'm going to sue you. You tried to fool me into marrying me while being with another man. Both of you are scammers!"

"Patrick, watch your mouth!" Gracelyn also got angry and stepped forward. "I married him after I broke up with you. Stop slandering us!"

"Everyone, you heard that, right? She married someone else immediately after breaking up with me. Who would believe you two didn't have an affair before? Gracelyn, are you taking me for an idiot?"

Gracelyn's face turned pale. It really didn't sound good.

"You are indeed an idiot," Jovanny chimed in.

Patrick glared at him. "Who are you swearing at?"

"I'm praising you for being quite self-aware," Jovanny said expressionlessly.

"You..."

Jovanny wasn't complimenting Patrick. He was clearly calling Patrick an idiot.

"You scumbags! Just wait!" Patrick didn't want to continue to lose face here. He came to return the money and curse Gracelyn to vent his anger.

Who knew that this man would suddenly pop out? Patrick was about to leave when he heard the sound of a siren.

Patrick froze and subconsciously looked back at Jovanny.

Jovanny responded, "I called the police."
