Chapter 20 She's Seducing Him
Chapter 20 She's Seducing Him
Unexpectedly, Lily's face suddenly stiffened. She managed to maintain a smile. "My mom had only become a professor two years ago. You may not know her, Philip."
Hearing this, Gracelyn looked at Lily.
Philip did not ask further. "Well then, let's eat."
Philip came here as a guest, but he acted like a host when he told the others to eat dinner.
This made Laurie unhappy, but she didn't show it. She kept a smile on her face, asking everyone to eat.
Lily was secretly relieved when the topic was changed.
She ate silently. Sensing something, she subconsciously looked up and met Jovanny's probing gaze.
Lily's heart lurched, and she hurriedly lowered her head and pretended to eat.
She didn't know why, but this man gave her an inexplicable sense of oppression that made her panic for no reason.
After eating, Philip chatted with Brandon for a while and went back by himself.
Jovanny also went back to the room. Thinking about the fact that he was now living in the same room as her, Gracelyn didn't want to go into that room.
So she chatted with George and the others outside and sat there until ten o'clock. Lily needed beauty sleep, so George accompanied her into the room. Gracelyn had to go back too.
She forced herself to walk back to her bedroom.
Jovanny was still hogging her desk, busy with business on the laptop.
Gracelyn took her pajamas and then asked, "Jovanny, when will you go to bed?"
Jovanny's fingers paused on the keyboard for a moment. "I'll stay up for a while."
"Okay, I'm going to take a shower."
Jovanny ignored her as Gracelyn held her pajamas and went to take a shower. She dawdled in the bathroom for a long time before returning to the bedroom.
"Do you want to take a shower too?" Gracelyn asked nervously, her cheeks reddening at the thought that they might have to sleep in the same bed later.
Jovanny closed his laptop and gave her a sideways glance.
She was sitting upright on the bed, wearing furry pajamas with a hood, and he wasn't sure if she was wearing a pajama or a sweater.
Gracelyn had just washed her hair. It was wet, hanging over her shoulders, making her oval face look much more docile. She was like an 18-year-old student.
Gracelyn was undeniably pretty, and she had a pair of long, straight legs. She sat there like this, which was a challenge to Jovanny's self-control.
But at the thought of her relationship with Patrick for two years, Jovanny became gloomy. He withdrew his gaze, as indifferent as ever.
"Just go to bed. I have work to do."
Gracelyn was secretly relieved. She thought he wanted to do something to her when he sized her up, but now it seemed she had overthought it.
So she found the hair dryer, dried her hair, and slipped under the covers.
But she couldn't sleep. She could only hear Jovanny tapping the keyboard in the quiet room.
However, the most horrible thing happened soon.
Lily's voice came from next door. She and George made so much noise. Gracelyn grabbed the covers to cover her head and ears. Yet those erotic sounds continued to drift into her ears, making her face turn red.
George and Lily were really unrestrained. Laurie and Brandon could probably hear them too.
The sounds went on for quite a while. Finally, the two quieted down, Yet within an hour, they made embarrassing voices again.
Gracelyn was almost driven mad.
She stuck her head out of the covers and peeked at Jovanny, who was still focused on his work with his back straight. He didn't seem to care what was going on outside at all.
Upon closer inspection, Gracelyn realized Jovanny was wearing Bluetooth headphones.
Gracelyn sat up and tapped Jovanny on the shoulder.
Jovanny gave her a puzzled look and removed his headphones. The sounds from next door immediately came into his ears.
Gracelyn blushed as she pointed to the drawer. "I want to look for my headphones."
Jovanny stood up to make way for her, watching as she bent over and rummaged in the drawer.
Although her pajamas were thick, the collar was large, so as she leaned down, Jovanny could see most of her breasts through her scattered hair.
When he, who had always been very calm, saw this and heard the sounds from next door, his face finally changed.
Jovanny increasingly suspected that this woman was seducing him.
"I've found them." Gracelyn pulled out her dusty Bluetooth headphones and took a step back. "Go ahead. I'll leave you alone."
Jovanny was in no mood to work right now. He scowled, snapped his laptop shut, and carried it out.
Gracelyn frowned confusedly, wondering what was wrong with him.
She thought, "I just took my headphones. It wasn't enough to make him so angry, was it?
"Was it because I disturbed his work?
"I guess so. What a workaholic!"
But it was good that he was gone. It saved both of them embarrassment.
When Gracelyn got up the next morning, Jovanny still wasn't back. Brandon was the only one in the living room, while Laurie had gone out to buy ingredients.
Gracelyn came out after washing up. When Brandon saw her outfit, he asked, "Grace, are you going out?"
"Yeah, I have something to do." Gracelyn changed her shoes and took a bus to Patrick's home.
She waited for Patrick to come downstairs. After about forty minutes, Patrick appeared.
Now that the two fell out, Patrick didn't bother to pretend. He came to Gracelyn with his clothes unchanged and his hair unkempt. He looked very disheveled in his slippers.
"What are you doing here with me?" Patrick glanced at her in annoyance. "Are you trying to make up with me? I'm telling you. It's impossible."
Gracelyn didn't bother to talk to him. She handed the card back to Patrick. "Here's your card. You have my bank account number. Transfer the money into it. I'm not taking this card from you."
Patrick froze and then said angrily, "Why are you so troublesome? Do you think everyone is scheming against you? Who do you think you are?"
Gracelyn put the card directly into his pajama pocket and then took a step back. "I don't suspect anyone except for you. Transfer the money into my account today, or else when we go to court, you'll have to pay much more than 35 thousand dollars."
"You..." Patrick was so angry that he almost slapped Gracelyn.
But Gracelyn stood there motionlessly. He hesitated and put his hand down because there were surveillance cameras in the neighborhood.
Gracelyn didn't waste more words on him. She gave him back his card and left.
Patrick looked at her back, his face twisted in anger.
Gracelyn walked out of the neighborhood. As she was waiting for the bus by the side of the road, she suddenly received a phone call from an unfamiliar number.
She hesitated for a moment, pressed the answer button, and put the phone to her ear. "Hello."
"Is this Ms. Beck?"
"Yes, who is that?"
The caller said, "You asked me earlier about the loan, right? I managed to apply for it for you, so when will you be free to come for a talk?"
