Married to the Billionaire by Chance

Chapter 24 Side With Outsiders

Chapter 24 Side With Outsiders

Gracelyn sprang to her feet. "What happened? Are you hurt?"

George sighed.

When Gracelyn and Jovanny rushed to the scene, they saw George and Brandon but not Lily or Laurie.

Gracelyn walked up to George quickly and sized him and Brandon up. "Are you hurt?"

George waved his hand. "No. Well, Mom and Lily had bruises and have gone to the hospital. I'm fine. It's just..."

He said and glanced guiltily at Jovanny, who was standing behind them.

Jovanny didn't have great reactions. He went up to the car and saw it collide with a silver Bentley.

His car was fine, but the Bentley wasn't. The headlights were smashed, and the bumper was off.

Looking at Jovanny's back, George pulled Gracelyn and asked nervously, "How much will it cost?"

Gracelyn shook her head nervously. "What is that car? Is it expensive?"

"What do you think? It costs at least 500 thousand dollars. Jovanny won't kill me, will he?"

George thought, "Before I went out, I told her to relax. And what now? I've caused such great trouble. Fuck me! What should I do now?"

"Don't be ridiculous. He'll go to jail if he kills you. It's not that serious."

Gracelyn was worried about the compensation. She asked, "Has the responsible party been determined?"

"Not yet. I don't have a good feeling, though." George shrank his neck. He drank, which was enough to make him guilty.

Hearing that he had been drinking, Gracelyn glared at him. "How could you drive after drinking?"

"Keep your voice down!" George still shrank his neck and gestured for her to be silent. "How should I know that this car would come out of nowhere?"

Soon, the police arrived on the scene. After the investigation, the police came directly to them with the alcohol tester. "Who drove the car?"

George grabbed Gracelyn's arm at once. In a panic, he pointed directly at Jovanny. "It was him!"

Jovanny turned around and glanced at George, who gave him a pleading look.

"It wasn't me." Jovanny didn't help George lie. He refused to take the blame.

George was stunned and thought, "Is he nuts?

"If the traffic cop finds out I was drunk driving, he's gonna have his car towed!"

The police walked up to George. "Who was driving the car? If you try to hide it and avoid responsibility, the consequences will be worse. You'd better come clean."

Being warned, George was timid. He accepted the fate and said, "It was me."

"Blow into it."

George bravely blew into the tester.

A few seconds later, the police laughed angrily and said, "Good for you. You drove drunk and even dared to lie. Whose car is it?"

George raised his chin and motioned that the car belonged to Jovanny.

"Is it yours?"

Jovanny nodded slightly. "Yes."

"How could you just lend it to someone else like that? See what happens now? We will now tow your car and impound it for six months. Also, you have to pay for the damage to the other car owner. Remember, you can't just lend your car to someone else so casually from now on."

"I see. Sorry for your trouble."

The police waved his hand. "Go and negotiate with the other owner. We are now bringing the driver to blame back for investigation."

Jovanny nodded. "OK."

George was taken away. Brandon glanced at Gracelyn, dejected. "What should we do now? George isn't going to jail, is he?"

"I don't know. He drunk driving after all," Gracelyn sighed worriedly and then glanced at Jovanny.

Jovanny had already been talking with the owner of the Bentley.

That owner was a middle-aged, chubby man. He was on the phone all the time. Now he finally got off the phone, he came to Jovanny menacingly, pointed to his Bentley, and said.

"See my car? It's ruined. I have an important meeting to attend. Do you have any idea? What should I do now? I can't make it. I'll lose about a million dollars. Will you pay for my loss?"

Jovanny listened to the man without changing his expression, then turned back to Gracelyn and said, "Go back with your uncle. Leave it to me."

Gracelyn hesitated. "Can you manage it?"

"Sure."

Maybe it was because he was acting too cool, anyway, Gracelyn wasn't so worried anymore. She nodded and supported Brandon. "Uncle, let's go back."

Brandon was guilty. He sighed and left with her.

After they left, the chubby man got even angrier. He patted his car hard. "I'm talking to you! What are you going to do about it?"

"What do you propose? Shall we go to court or settle this privately?"

"I don't have the time to go to court!"

Jovanny said seriously, "You can send someone to deal with it on your behalf."

"Who the fuck should I send?" The man was pissed off. He began to wonder whether Jovanny was nuts or not. How could Jovanny be this calm now that his car had been towed?

In the next second, someone squeezed into the crowd. "Calm down. I'll deal with it."

It was Brenden.

Jovanny called Brenden as soon as he learned the news, and Brenden arrived just now.

Brenden walked to the man and said, "Dude, this is my boss. I'll take care of this for him. You can talk to me."

The chubby man glanced at Jovanny suspiciously.

Jovanny said, "I'll leave it to you. Give me your car keys."

Brenden was stunned and then immediately said, "Ask Howard to pick you up. What should I do if you take my car away?"

Jovanny reached out. "Car keys."

Brenden was speechless for a few seconds before saying, "You got me."

Brenden could only give Jovanny his car keys. Seeing that it was a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the chubby man was instantly dejected.

He thought, "How come the boss drives a Mercedes whereas his employee drives a Cullinan? I didn't get it."

Gracelyn and Brandon went to the hospital to check on Lily and Laurie. Fortunately, they were fine. They went back after bandaging their wounds simply.

On the way, Laurie had been coaxing Lily, as she didn't want Lily to tell her parents about the accident. And Lily was very considerate and said that she understood and would not tell them.

Brandon was silent along the way. When they were almost at home, he said, "It's going to cost a lot of money, right?"

Brandon then said to Gracelyn, "Grace, tell Jovanny to bring the receipts back. We will pay him the money back. But there's nothing we can do about his car being towed."

Before Gracelyn could say anything, Laurie was unwilling. She said with a fake smile, "We're family. You don't have to say that. Given that Jovanny can afford a car worth 100 thousand dollars, I'm sure he doesn't care about this. Right, Grace?"

Gracelyn lowered her head in silence.

Seeing that, Laurie brought the house up and said, "Grace, we've never had any complaints even though you've been staying with us all these years, right? We never asked you for rent. If we rented to someone else, we would have earned at least 30 thousand dollars by now. Hearing that you wanted to live with us, we agreed at once, right?"

Brandon pulled Laurie's sleeve. "Why are you talking about that?"

Laurie rolled her eyes at him. "I'm just telling the truth. I'm just saying that we're family, and money ought not to matter. George is getting married soon. How much do you have to pay?"

Then she muttered, "Stop siding with outsiders."

Her voice wasn't exactly loud, yet Gracelyn heard her anyway.
