Married to the Billionaire by Chance

Chapter 28 In Fact, He Is Disgusted

Chapter 28 In Fact, He Is Disgusted

At this time, Brandon spoke. "That's right. George was the driver. We have to think in Gracelyn's angle."

Laurie glared at him because she was displeased by the fact that he always spoke up for Gracelyn.

Laurie pondered for a while and said, "How about you give the money to Gracelyn? We'll look for the buyer we met the last time. Isn't he going to purchase our house?"

Gracelyn was dumbfounded. She didn't expect Laurie to say this.

Gracelyn was astonished by Laurie's plans. She would give the money to Gracelyn and let her pay the compensation. Instead, Laurie would sell the house for 80,000 dollars, which would leave her no loss.

Gracelyn smiled and pretended not to understand what Laurie said, "Laurie, do you mean to sell the house and then use the money you receive to pay the compensation?"

Laurie said with a smile. "You're short of money, and so are we, so we have to sell the house. Gracelyn, you said that you had money, so we hurried back. However, you told me just now that you still needed 16,000 dollars. What do you think we should do now?"

Gracelyn finally understood. Laurie knew that Gracelyn badly wanted this house, so she was threatening Gracelyn.

Because of Brandon's presence, Gracelyn didn't want to fall out with Laurie, or she would refuse to sell the house to her.

Gracelyn paused and said, "That's right. I don't have that much money, if you are so anxious to sell the house, then do it now. The guy in the car accident has been urging for compensation. So, I think you can pay him, and Jovanny and I will go buy another house."

This time, Laurie was the one stunned. Why did Gracelyn not play by the rules?

"Do you not want this house anymore?"

"I do, but I don't have enough money, so I don't have a choice. I can go find out if anyone else in this area wants to sell their houses. The reason why I want to buy yours is that it's cheap. I would have purchased a big house downtown if I had been as rich as you."

Laurie smiled awkwardly. Though she had been hinting that Gracelyn and Jovanny should pay the compensation by themselves, she had to protect her dignity. Therefore, she didn't tell her true intention when Gracelyn didn't expose her.

"We're all short of money now. What should we do?"

Gracelyn said, "Laurie, how about you sell the house to me for 70,000 dollars? Jovanny was mad last night because the car was dragged away. I told him that I'd pay 9,000 dollars for George, and he didn't talk to me today."

Gracelyn lied through her teeth. "If you sell the house to me for 70 grand, we can take the discount as your compensation for the victim, and we'll collect the remaining 9,000 dollars. This way, I could give Jovanny an explanation, and our relationship won't be damaged."

Laurie was hesitating. She didn't want to lose even a penny.

At this time, Lily said, "Laurie, I think Gracelyn has a good idea. You are family. Though family members will have conflicts over money, you should sometimes understand each other."

"That makes sense." Laurie smiled embarrassedly.

Gracelyn talked for a long time, but it wasn't as effective as Lily's speech.

Lily came from a rich family, so Laurie valued her very much. Thus, she would act like a generous woman in front of Lily.

"Fine. We'll do as Gracelyn said. I'll sell the house for 70,000 dollars, and we won't be responsible for the compensation."

Gracelyn heaved a sigh of relief. She gratefully looked at Lily and smiled. "That's decided then. Let's make an appointment to transfer the ownership of the house, shall we?"

"It's fine with me." Laurie was displeased in her heart, but she didn't show it on her face.

Brandon suddenly asked, "Jovanny bought the car with a loan. Has he paid it back?"

"Nope. He bought it not long after his return."

Laurie had no excuses to argue after Gracelyn said this. A new car was damaged, and the compensation was just a trivial matter. She didn't want to be involved in bigger trouble.

Gracelyn heaved a sigh of relief after settling the house problem.

Now, she needed a transfer of ownership.

Jovanny worked late as expected. He didn't come back for a night, so Laurie thought that he was mad about the car accident and that he had a conflict with Gracelyn because of this. Therefore, she agreed to the transfer of house without hesitation.

After Gracelyn bought the e-bike, she no longer needed to take a bus to go to work. The reason why she didn't buy one was that charging the e-bike was a big problem. There was no place for that in the company and she would need a long wire if she was to charge it at home.

After the charging was done, she had to put the wire away, which meant a lot of trouble to her.

Early the next morning, Gracelyn saw Jovanny come back when she rode on the e-bike for work after putting away the charger.

He was still in a suit. With a briefcase in his hand, he walked over with long legs.

"Jovanny?" Gracelyn took off her helmet and greeted him. "Did you just get off work?"

Jovanny stopped in his tracks and looked back at Gracelyn. His gaze fell on the pink e-bike. Expressionless, he said, "I came back for Philip."

"So, you have to go to the company later. Let me give you a ride."

Jovanny was speechless.

"What's wrong?"

"It's alright. You don't have to wait for me. I'll go to the company in the afternoon."

"Oh." Gracelyn was about to leave, but she turned her head and said, "Then, I'll pick you up at noon. I have a two-hour lunch break."

"No need for that."

Gracelyn fell silent and stared at Jovanny with disappointment. "Are you mad because of the car accident?"

Jovanny frowned. "Why did you say that?"

How could she tell that he was angry?

"Then, do you dislike sitting on this e-bike?" Gracelyn looked at Jovanny again. That made sense. He was in a suit and looked like someone from the upper class. It would be embarrassing for him to ride on an e-bike.

Jovanny didn't say anything, but in fact, he was disgusted.

Gracelyn added, "But I can only afford an e-bike now. Take the subway if you find it embarrassing."

She wanted to drive him to work because she was guilty toward him, so she wanted to make up to him. At the same time, it was convenient to move around on an e-bike, but she didn't expect him to find it shameful.

Seeing her disappointed look, Jovanny spoke with no reason, "I indeed have something to do. How about giving me a moment?"

He regretted it after saying that. He didn't even know why his heart had softened.

However, Gracelyn beamed with a smile. "Alright. I'll be waiting."

Jovanny was speechless.

Jovanny fell silent for a while before going upstairs.

Gracelyn got off the e-bike and wiped the seat with a tissue. Then, she took out the black helmet and waited for Jovanny's arrival quietly.

Jovanny finally went down after about ten minutes.

He seemed to have changed his clothes. His black shirt was replaced by a navy blue one, but he didn't look much different.

Gracelyn handed over the black helmet as if she was offering a treasure. "Wear this for safety, and no one will know who you are, so you won't feel embarrassed."
