Married to the Billionaire by Chance

Chapter 29 Body Reactions Cannot Lie

Chapter 29 Body Reactions Cannot Lie

Jovanny remained silent as he took the helmet from Gracelyn and put it on his head.

"Get on." Gracelyn sat astride the electric scooter and turned to look at Jovanny, who seemed stiff and reluctant.

Under Gracelyn's gaze, Jovanny reluctantly stepped forward and sat down.

"Are you settled?" After Gracelyn finished her instruction, she started the electric scooter and took off.

The morning breeze carried a hint of moisture. As the cool wind blew, the fragrance on Gracelyn's body filled the air. It was faint, not like perfume, but more like the scent of shampoo and detergent.

Gracelyn rode steadily and slowly on the electric scooter, cruising along the road.

There were a lot of electric scooters on the road, especially when waiting for traffic lights. Almost every gap between vehicles was filled with electric scooters, and Gracelyn's scooter was inconspicuous among them.

But what caught people's attention was Jovanny. He was tall and sturdy. Sitting upright behind Gracelyn, Jovanny towered over her.

Although Jovanny wore a helmet, from behind, his figure easily gave the impression that he was a handsome guy.

"See? With so many electric scooters on the road, no one notices you." Gracelyn encouraged Jovanny during a pause at a traffic light.

Jovanny didn't say anything.

The window of a red BMW beside them rolled down, and someone greeted Gracelyn. "Gracelyn?"

Gracelyn turned around and was surprised to see Allyson.

"Ms. Juarez, what a coincidence!" Gracelyn smiled and greeted Allyson.

"Yeah." Allyson's gaze fell on Jovanny, but she couldn't see his face because of the helmet. "Is he your boyfriend? He doesn't really look like the one before."

Many people in the company knew that Gracelyn had a boyfriend. Patrick always came to the company, so it was not surprising for Allyson to have seen Patrick before.

But Allyson's question was a bit subtle. What did she mean?

"He's not my boyfriend, but my husband," Gracelyn said.

"Husband?" Allyson was a bit surprised. "When did you get married?"

"A few days ago."

Allyson smiled and glanced at Jovanny again. Her eyes carried a trace of contempt.

Gracelyn's husband didn't even have a car and had to rely on her to ride an electric scooter to pick him up. Such a man sucked.

Allyson thought that Gracelyn's taste in men was really poor.

Gracelyn noticed Allyson's gaze and felt a little displeased. But fortunately, the traffic light turned green. Gracelyn said to Allyson, "Ms. Juarez, we need to go first."

Allyson smiled and nodded. Her smile was genuine. When one saw others in a worse situation than himself, the smiles he showed were often sincere.

On the way to S&C, Gracelyn said to Jovanny, "Don't worry. She didn't see your face, and she doesn't know what you look like."

Jovanny remained silent. When they were going uphill, Gracelyn suddenly accelerated.

Jovanny leaned back due to inertia, but his quick reflexes allowed him to grab Gracelyn's waist.

Gracelyn's body stiffened, for his hands coincidentally held her slender waist.

Due to the warmth from Jovanny's large hands, Gracelyn's heartbeat suddenly quickened. Her face, hidden beneath the helmet, turned red.

Gracelyn took a deep breath, pretended to be calm, and held the handlebar firmly, trying to keep the scooter stable.

However, her stiff body couldn't escape Jovanny's touch. He held Gracelyn's delicate waist and could clearly feel her stiffness.

Appearance could be deceiving, but body reactions never lied.

So, Gracelyn was truly nervous.

She didn't seem like someone who had been in a relationship for two years.

Jovanny fell into deep thought. Even though the scooter had stabilized, his hand remained in place.

Moreover, he suddenly didn't mind riding an electric scooter.

Gracelyn had been paying attention to the navigation on her phone the whole time, and they were only five hundred meters away.

But ... there was traffic.

This road was almost completely blocked, with no gaps for Gracelyn to squeeze through on her electric scooter. They could only slowly move forward with the slow pace of the other cars.

Gracelyn didn't notice that a window of a car next to them had been rolled down. Brenden was inside, and he reached out to pat Jovanny's shoulder.

Jovanny turned his head expressionlessly and saw Brenden wearing a triumphant look.

Brenden even took out his phone and started taking pictures of Jovanny.

Jovanny frowned and gave Brenden a warning look, but it was futile. Brenden pressed the shutter without any scruples.

"Click."

Brenden was thinking about how to use this photo when Jovanny suddenly reached out and snatched his phone from his hand.

"Hey ... my phone!"

Gracelyn heard the commotion and turned around. She saw Jovanny holding Brenden's phone and operating it, while Brenden stretched his neck, trying to grab it back.

"Mr. Sturt?"

Brenden paused for a moment, sat back down awkwardly, and greeted her with a smile, "Ms. Beck, what are you doing here?"

Gracelyn opened her mouth, but then she realized that Brenden might be working there. In order to save Jovanny from embarrassment, she explained, "I'm here to drop off a friend."

"A friend?" Brenden smiled meaningfully and looked towards Jovanny. "Is he that friend?"

"Well, yes."

"Your friend took my phone. He works at S&C, right? He looks a bit familiar." Brenden smiled, but his words carried a threat that only Jovanny could understand.

Gracelyn had some doubts. Why did Jovanny snatch Brenden's phone? Brenden was a vice president after all. Jovanny shouldn't offend him.

Jovanny didn't say anything. He threw the phone back into Brenden's car and said to Gracelyn, "Drop me off here. I'll walk the rest of the way."

"There's still three hundred meters left."

"It's okay. I have time."

Gracelyn checked the time. Jovanny did have time, but she didn't. She never expected the road to be so congested. Gracelyn had been stuck for more than ten minutes for just two hundred meters.

"Well then, I'll go ahead. You can walk over. It's good exercise."

After Jovanny got out of the car, Gracelyn drove forward. There happened to be an intersection where she could turn around, and there were fewer cars there.

After Gracelyn left, Jovanny immediately got into Brenden's car.

Brenden couldn't help but burst into laughter. He teased, "Mr. Latimer, how does it feel to ride a small electric scooter?"

Jovanny surprisingly didn't retort. He leaned back in his seat and calmly said, "Not bad."

Brenden raised an eyebrow. Thinking of something, he nodded in agreement. "The feeling of intimate contact was pretty good, right?"

Jovanny ignored Brenden.

In Jovanny's mind, he envisioned Gracelyn's stiff expression. Ever since his hand rested on her waist, she hadn't relaxed.

Had she been dating Patrick for two years?

Of course, Gracelyn had no idea what Jovanny was thinking, because she was late.

She was twenty minutes late, and when she arrived at her department, Rosa was standing in front of her workstation.

"Gracelyn, you're late. This is a first." Rosa looked her up and down. "Where have you been?"

Gracelyn rushed over. While wiping the sweat from her forehead, she said, "Sorry, there was some traffic on the road."

"Gracelyn had a hard day. She had to send her husband to work, so with all the back and forth, it was natural for her to be late. Ms. Webley, please understand her."

Allyson appeared out of nowhere and sarcastically remarked.
