Chapter 33 Rag Man
Chapter 33 Rag Man
Bella agreed to have a blind date with Patrick just for fun. She didn't like the men whom her father introduced to her, so she turned to professional matchmakers.
Bella wanted to know more strangers. Then she met Patrick, who was surprisingly normal.
Patrick was her type in terms of character. So Bella didn't care if he was rich. She only wanted a man in control.
Patrick seemed to be easy to control.
"I've broken up with Patrick. No need to talk anymore, right?" Gracelyn smiled politely.
"Well, you can still be friends!" Bella turned to Jovanny and pretended to be surprised. "Oh, this is your boyfriend? Sorry. I didn't see him."
Jovanny watched calmly in the chair.
Gracelyn didn't want to talk to her either. Being ignored, Bella was a bit mad. She felt like an idiot.
Bella said, "Sir, what do you do? It's said that Patrick was dumped because he was poor. You must be rich, right?"
"None of your business," said Jovanny.
Bella got angrier.
Patrick walked over to comfort her. "Never mind. Let's go."
"Go? You are the victim! What are you worried about? You still care about her?"
Patrick felt guilty. But he pretended to be sad. "Let it go."
It made Bella want to win more. Patrick's actions convinced her that Patrick still cared about Gracelyn.
Suddenly, Bella wanted to win Patrick's heart.
Gracelyn had it enough. She stood up and looked at them. Then she said to Bella.
"Miss, we broke up. Now, I am married. Don't mess with me. If you like him, I wish you happiness."
"Married?" Bella was shocked. But on second thought, she felt that Patrick was right. She believed that Gracelyn was a vixen. Otherwise, Gracelyn wouldn't have got married so soon.
"Yeah, married. Can you go now?"
"You..." Bella gnashed her teeth in anger. Spoiled, she had never been treated like this. Gracelyn actually asked her to leave!
Bella wanted to say something. But suddenly, two men walked over.
"Damn... Jovanny!" One of them walked over and patted Jovanny's shoulder. He was wearing casual clothing. "I knew you would come! That's why you... Ouch! It hurts!"
Before the man could finish, his wrist was grabbed by Jovanny, who pinched him so hard that he felt as if his wrist would be broken. The man screamed in pain and couldn't finish his words at all.
Jovanny let go of him. Then the man touched his wrist and glared at Jovanny in pain. "What's wrong with you?"
"Your friend?" Gracelyn asked tentatively. It seemed that they were close.
Jovanny nodded. "Yes. He is Nolan Benjamin. A rag man."
Nolan was speechless.
When did he become a rag man?
Just then, Bella laughed with disdain, implying that they were the same.
"Who are you? Why are you laughing?" Nolan glanced at Bella, not understanding why she laughed ironically.
"Nothing. Bye." Bella waved her hand in disgust.
She despised rag men.
"Patrick, let's go."
Bella held Patrick's arm and left without looking back.
Nolan was confused. After watching them leave, he turned to Jovanny. "Who are they? Aren't they your friends? Why that ironic tone?"
Gracelyn explained, "We are not friends."
"So enemies?"
"Not really. He is..." Gracelyn gave Jovanny a glance and saw no expressions on his face. She said, "My ex."
"Oh, your ex." Nolan nodded seriously. Then he reacted and widened his eyes. He looked at Gracelyn and then Jovanny.
Then he realized something shocking! Jovanny was having a meal with a girl!
Nolan sat down next to Jovanny. "Jovanny, why don't you introduce her to me?"
Jovanny lost his patience. "She is Gracelyn Beck."
"And?"
"What?" Jovanny asked.
Nolan looked at them with a teasing smile. "What's your relationship?"
"None of your business." Jovanny frowned. "Go away!"
"No! I'm here to have a meal. You can't drive me away!"
Hearing their conversation, Gracelyn looked at Jovanny. It seemed that Jovanny didn't want his friend to know about their marriage.
Nolan was not shy at all. He said to Gracelyn, "Do you mind if I join you?"
"What?" Gracelyn paused and turned to Jovanny subconsciously.
Before they could reply, Nolan asked the waiter to bring him a plate and forks.
He picked a fork up and started eating. "Nice food! Yummy! You should try it! Come on!"
Jovanny looked at him coldly, but Nolan ignored him as if he had not been an unexpected guest.
Jovanny sighed and said to Gracelyn, "Eat."
Gracelyn nodded and picked up the fork, eating quietly.
Nolan was enthusiastic. After grabbing some bites, he talked to Jovanny.
"Jovanny, why didn't you come to me after you came back? What have you been doing?"
Jovanny touched his chin, coughed, and said in a low voice," Looking for a job."
Nolan's smile froze. "What?"
He thought he didn't hear Jovanny clearly. Jovanny was looking for a job?
But Nolan was smart. Jovanny borrowed his membership card and said that Nolan was a rag man. Now, he even claimed that he was trying to get a job. So Nolan could easily tell his real intentions.
Therefore, Nolan couldn't help observing Gracelyn.
Feeling his gaze, Gracelyn raised her head and asked in confusion, "What?"
Nolan smiled, "Nothing. I'm just full."
"You didn't eat much."
"I have to go back to work in the dump. It's not a good idea to be stuffed at work." Nolan made a face to Jovanny.
"It must be tiring, right?"
Nolan waved his hand and suppressed his smile. "Yeah. I didn't go to college. But Jovanny studied abroad. I can only try my best to support my family through physical work."
Gracelyn smiled, "We are all trying to support our lives. Nothing different. It's hard to work, anyway."
"Yes. Jovanny found a good woman!"
It made her blush. She changed the topic at once. "How did you know each other then?"
