Married to the Billionaire by Chance

Chapter 35 Listen to Me?

Chapter 35 Listen to Me?

Philip remained silent for a while and suddenly looked at Jovanny. No longer serious, he smiled, "How is your relationship?"

Jovanny didn't know what to say. Then, he sighed, "This is your question?"

"Yeah. You've been married for a long time. Any progress?"

"No idea." Jovanny frowned. He didn't know what progress they had made.

Philip was annoyed. "No idea? Come on. Holding hands? Kissing? Having sex..."

"Grandpa!" Jovanny interrupted him with his veins popping out. He tried to be patient. "Go to bed early. If you are hungry, just heat the food. Bye."

"Hey, don't go. You haven't answered yet! What did you do?"

Philip shouted, but Jovanny left without hesitation.

When he came back to Gracelyn's house, Gracelyn was discussing household issues with her uncle and aunt.

Seeing him, Gracelyn said, "Jovanny, you are back. We've made the decision to deal with it on Friday. You should go with us."

Jovanny couldn't stop thinking about Philip's words. He didn't hear her clearly and nodded in distraction, "I need to stay alone for a while."

Gracelyn realized that he was distracted, so she said goodnight to her uncle and aunt before entering her bedroom.

Jovanny opened his laptop with his arms crossed. He leaned against the chair, staring at the screen.

Gracelyn closed the door, walked to him, and asked quietly, "What's wrong, Jovanny?"

Jovanny came back to his senses and shook his head. "Nothing."

"Did your grandpa say anything?"

"No."

He remained expressionless. But he looked abnormal. Apparently, he had something in his mind.

After a moment of silence, Gracelyn said, "I have something to talk about to you."

Jovanny squinted at her. "What?"

Gracelyn pulled over a chair and sat next to him. "I think we should put your name on the deed. After all, you paid the most. I paid too. So I just need to live here. But you still own the house."

Jovanny paused and looked at her in confusion.

After a long while, he reacted. "No. Just put your name on it."

"No. You paid a lot. Aren't you afraid of losses?"

Jovanny felt that it was funny. He suddenly pulled back his chair, turned around, and sat opposite her.

He stared at her with his deep eyes that were touched by a trace of cold. It made her feel pressured.

She shrank subconsciously.

"Gracelyn," Jovanny said suddenly.

"Yeah..." She nodded. "What?"

Jovanny pondered and said, "Why did you marry me?"

"What?" Gracelyn was confused. She thought for a while and said carefully, "To...buy this house. I thought we had made it clear."

Jovanny said, "What about our future?"

"Well..."

Gracelyn didn't know how to answer. She only wanted to get the money and buy a house. But she never thought about the future.

"No idea. I'll listen to you."

"Listen to me?"

Gracelyn nodded and looked at him sincerely. She was willing to be with him or leave him.

Jovanny took out his cigarettes. Then something came to his mind. He asked, "Can I smoke here?"

Gracelyn hesitated. But when she looked at his dark eyes, she nodded. "OK."

But he didn't smoke. He threw the cigarettes onto the table. "Look. You hesitated. You have your own ideas. Why did you choose to listen to me?"

Gracelyn didn't know what to say.

Then, under his strong gaze, she lowered her head quietly.

"Gracelyn, don't say that again. I want to know your thoughts. You know...about our marriage and future."

Gracelyn bit her lips, not knowing why he was so serious.

She offered to have his name on the deed for his sake. Why did he say that to her?

Jovanny stared at her quietly, waiting for her to answer.

Gracelyn remained silent. After a while, she said, "In fact, I have never thought about it."

She took a deep breath, raised her head, and looked into his deep eyes. "I am not ambitious. I am not far-sighted. I just want to enjoy my life.

"I don't know what kind of woman is your ideal wife. I don't know what will happen. So I can only get prepared for possible conflicts in terms of money."

Jovanny remained cool.

Gracelyn looked at him and continued, "Maybe I'll just let nature take its course. You may despise me. But that's what I am.

"Jovanny, I know we have different minds. I might be at a disadvantage. So I decided to let you make decisions in our marriage.

"Because I can't think of any of your shortcomings. I don't want to get divorced now. But if you want to, I'm OK with that... That's all."

Hearing this, he smiled. It was a light but sincere smile.

"Well said. You have your thoughts."

Somehow, her face blushed when he praised her.

Jovanny pointed at the table, pondering.

After a while, he said, "I'll share my thoughts with you. I'm the same as you. We don't want to get divorced now."

Gracelyn was surprised.

Jovanny said, "In fact, I don't know what my standard is. But I think there is no certain standard for an ideal wife.

"If we set rules for our partners, they won't be unique. They will become goods. Anyone who meets the standard can be your partner then.

"This is not what I want. I don't think this way."

Gracelyn was surprised by his words. They got married a long time ago. But they had never talked so seriously before.

And she was impressed because people around her all had standards for their partners.

It could be related to appearance, character, or money. Anyway, they had requirements.

But Jovanny didn't seem to try to find a partner. In fact, he was looking for a soulmate.

"Looks like people living abroad do have impressive opinions." Gracelyn smiled nervously after a long while.

Jovanny opened his mouth. Then he said, "I have a question, actually."
