Married to the Billionaire by Chance

Chapter 9-10

Chapter 9-10

Gracelyn wasn't excited about the news as she was a married woman. Why would she be curious about a strange handsome man? Anyway, her husband was the most handsome man she had seen. She doubted the client could be more pleasing to the eyes than Jovanny.

When she returned to her desk, she glanced at the conference room. But from her view, she could only see the back of a man. Somehow, she felt it looked familiar...

In the conference room...

Jovanny arched his brow unnoticeably. "I prefer to work with honest people."

Eric Dalton, the president of the company, had gritted his teeth to agree to Jovanny's terms.

Jovanny walked out of the conference room. He only took a few steps when he saw a person run out from a nearby office, making his stony expression crack a little. The person was Gracelyn and she was looking down at the file in her hands.

Eric lifted his head and followed Jovanny's gaze subconsciously as Jovanny suddenly froze in place.

When he saw Gracelyn, he smiled knowingly. "That's Gracelyn. She works in the Administration Department and is in charge of the records and logistics. Shame that she's taken."

Jovanny said nothing and merely nodded before heading toward the elevator. Gracelyn froze in place after she saw Jovanny's back.

"What are you staring at?" Marina looked in the direction of her gaze curiously.

"Nothing. Where should we have lunch?" Gracelyn retracted her gaze and thought she had made a mistake. Why would Jovanny come to her office? Was he here to look for a job?

Marina and Gracelyn left the office arm in arm. But Gracelyn saw the person she wanted to see the least in the world. Patrick was at the door of the office again.

"Grace, let's have lunch together." Patrick looked at her with a pleading look, hoping that she would agree for the sake of his pride.

He subconsciously reached out for Gracelyn's hand, but she moved it out of the way in time. She took a few steps but Patrick caught up and stopped in front of her. He stood next to a Ford and opened the door for her eagerly. "Please get into the car."

Gracelyn paused. "Did you buy this car?"

With an uneasy look, Patrick stuttered, "Well... I ordered it last month. It was supposed to be a surprise for you. But you... Anyway, just get into the car."

Fed up with Patrick, Gracelyn snapped and glared at him. "Didn't you claim that you had no money left? You said that you couldn't afford the down payment on the house. Yet, you have money for a new car. What a perfect scheme. I'll give you one week. If you don't pay me back my money, you'll have to talk to my lawyer."

Gracelyn didn't raise her voice. But there were many people on the streets as it was off hours, and many of them heard her.

Patrick looked around in embarrassment. Gracelyn turned around and walked in the opposite direction. She realized that since she broke up with Patrick, he would stoop lower every time they met.

"Jovanny."

At night, Gracelyn saw Jovanny when he was getting out of his car and was sure that he was the man she saw in the office during the daytime.

Following behind him, she stared at his tall figure and broad shoulders before asking tentatively, "I think I saw you earlier today."

Jovanny paused for a second but immediately continued walking. "Really? Where?"

"In my office? Is that you? The man's back looks identical to yours. My company is called the Maple Technology Company. Did you go there to find a job?"

"Yes."

"My company is a good choice as the welfare is nice. I'm friends with the staff in the HR Department. What's the position that you interviewed for? I can scoop around for you."

Jovanny suddenly stopped in his tracks. Gracelyn was caught off guard and almost slammed into his back. But in her high heels, she lost her balance and was going to fall on her back, her hands waving frantically in the air.

Luckily, Jovanny dropped the groceries he was carrying and grabbed her arms in time, helping her regain her balance. Gracelyn thanked him immediately as he had saved her from a great embarrassment. Jovanny noticed that Gracelyn had retracted her hands quickly as if she had been burned. A glint flashed across his eyes.

"Not necessary. I failed the interview. It's understandable because my major and the position don't match."

"OK... Cheer up. You'll find a suitable job soon."

After dinner...

Gracelyn returned to her place and Jovanny had stayed. Philip watched him go into his old room and wondered what he was up to. He opened the door and walked in without knocking. Jovanny was in a video conference and frowned when he saw Philip.

"Grandpa, what are you doing?"

Philip opened Jovanny's closet and threw his clothes into a suitcase. "You're married. Why are you still living here? Pack your things and move in with your wife."

"Grandpa..." Annoyed, Jovanny pinched the bridge of his nose. "Just leave them there. I'll pack the luggage myself."

It was obvious that Philip didn't trust his promise as he ignored Jovanny and shoved the clothes into the suitcase rudely before going to the bathroom for his toothbrush and toothpaste. He dropped them into the suitcase as if he was throwing out trash.

Jovanny looked at him speechlessly and thought, "He needs a cane to walk, but when he is trying to kick me out, his legs are strong."

Jovanny suddenly felt returning to Corley City was unnecessary. He thought he was coming back to take care of Philip, yet Philip seemed eager to chase him out. Philip swiftly zipped up the suitcase and carried it up.

But he had overestimated his strength.

Dropping the suitcase, he put a hand on his back and cried out in pain.

"Grandpa! I'll carry the suitcase over after the meeting. What's your rush?"

Philip shot him an impatient look. "I'm in a rush because you're having a meeting at my home. That's annoying."

"I thought this was my home too..."

"No. It's mine."
