Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Jason couldn't believe what he was hearing. He knelt by the hospital bed again.
"Dad, I'm your biological son too. If you don't want me to be with Chloe, I'll send her away right now!"
Hearing that all the assets would be left to me, Jason panicked.
He was even willing to sacrifice the "sister" he had always protected.
Chloe steeled herself and also knelt by the bed.
"Dad, I didn't mean to embarrass you. It was my brother who forced me to be with him!"
"He made me move out to pressure you into buying me a house!"
"He taught me how to frame Emily to gain sympathy!"
As Chloe spoke, two clear tears fell, clearly outperforming Jason.
Jason could only glare at her angrily.
"Dad, I'm part of the Bay family too. I've lived here for over a decade. You can't kick me out."
"I should get a share of the family assets too."
Seeing that the sister he had always cherished also wanted a share of the inheritance, Jason's face changed instantly.
"You have no blood relation to the Bay family at all. What right do you have!"
"Raising you for so long was already a blessing. You don't deserve any inheritance!"
He berated Chloe just as he used to scold me.
My dad shouted sternly.
"Neither do you!"
"You held a grudge from your past life against Emily, causing your own sister to fall off a cliff. You have no regard for blood relations at all!"
Hearing this, both Jason and I were stunned.
It seemed that after the blow to his head, my dad had regained some memories from his past life.
He now knew everything about Jason causing my death.
Seeing that all his misdeeds had been exposed, Jason decided to go all in and threaten our parents.
"It's impossible for me to leave empty-handed. Unless you give me a large sum of money, so I might consider taking care of you in your old age."
He stood up and looked at me disdainfully.
"This one can't be relied on. When you're old, you'll still need to depend on me."
My dad immediately crushed his hopes.
"Move out of the villa tonight, or I'll have security carry you out."
"You've hurt your own sister twice. How could I expect someone like you to take care of me in my old age?"
"I'd be thankful if you don't push me off a cliff."
Jason's eyes gradually darkened.
Afraid he might do something reckless, I grabbed a thermos and stood in front of my parents.
"I'll take good care of Mom and Dad. I'll never become an ungrateful child like you!"
Even in his anger, Jason didn't dare cause a scene in the hospital in broad daylight.
He left the room after saying, "You'll regret this."
Chloe didn't leave with him. She continued kneeling on the ground, playing the pitiful role.
"Dad, Mom, look at me. I'm Chloe, I'm your daughter."
"Moving out was all my brother's idea. I promise I won't associate with him anymore. Can you let me move back to the Bay house?"
My mom said only one word.
"Get out."
Chloe's intentions had long been seen through.
She had been afraid of poverty since childhood. Since she couldn't inherit the family business, being a young madam wasn't bad either.
She and Jason were birds of a feather.
After they left, the whole world seemed peaceful.
My mom and I stayed in the hospital room. Fortunately, my dad recovered well.
A week later, I took my dad home.
Later, when my dad was drunk one time, he asked if I hated Jason.
If I hated him for causing my death in the previous life.
I shook my head.
I believed his love for Chloe was real, just not deep enough.
He was willing to sacrifice me for Chloe.
But for the family assets, he was willing to give up everything.
That's just the kind of pragmatic person Jason was.
