My Parents Are Kidnapped, and My Cop Brother Refuses to Help, Now He’s Losing His Mind in Regret

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Perhaps it was heaven's blessing, but my dad's intracranial hematoma was removed, and he woke up a week later.

The first thing he did upon waking was to call a lawyer to change his will.

We all stood in a line waiting outside the door. Jason was visibly agitated.

"Mom, what's Dad doing? Is he treating us like outsiders?"

Having experienced the recent incident, my mom's attitude towards Jason had changed.

She seemed angry and didn't have a pleasant expression.

"If he tells you to wait, then wait. He's your father. Are you trying to control him now?"

Jason got snubbed and didn't dare to talk back. He could only go to the side to smoke sullenly.

Chloe quickly came forward to curry favor.

"Mom, the lakeside villa is too cold. Can I move back?"

If she hadn't mentioned it, I would have almost forgotten.

A month ago, Chloe falsely accused me of putting drugs in the dessert I made for the whole family, causing her gastroenteritis.

She said I was fighting for attention and pushing her out, and absolutely refused to live in the same space as me.

She insisted on moving out and forced my parents to buy her a villa registered under her name.

Now that she had the house, she was finding ways to move back.

There's no such good deal in this world.

My mom's expression didn't look pleased.

"I can't make that decision. It's up to your father."

Hearing this, Chloe seemed confident of success. She looked at me with obvious provocation.

I pretended not to see it. I had experienced too many similar situations.

When I first returned to the Bay family, I seemed a bit clumsy due to being unfamiliar with the life of the wealthy. Chloe constantly belittled me.

She said I had low intelligence, lacked the upbringing of a young lady, and couldn't handle social situations.

But my academic performance was better than hers. I was studying at a top national engineering university.

I could cook and take care of myself, often making various desserts to please my parents.

In my spare time, I also volunteered to help autistic children and stray animals.

In contrast, Chloe, this pampered young lady, had no skills except for her bad temper.

Most of the time, she relied on my brother to back her up.

I looked at Jason, who seemed worried in the distance.

Now it seemed her backup wasn't so reliable either.

After about two hours, the lawyer finally came out.

Jason was the first to rush in and fall at the bedside.

"Dad! I really had something important that day, that's why I couldn't come to rescue you. I really... regret it so much!"

A flash of displeasure crossed Chloe's face, but she also lay down by the bed.

"Dad, I'm so glad you're okay. You really scared me!"

These two were experts at playing the filial children. Chloe even managed to squeeze out some tears.

Unfortunately, my dad was as clear-minded as if he had a new brain. He waved his hand.

"All of you, sit down. Don't crowd around me making noise."

Both of them were stunned.

In the past, my dad would have been moved to tears, putting on a show of fatherly love and filial piety.

Now he was as calm as an outsider.

I went forward to pour my dad a glass of warm water. He took it and moistened his throat, his expression softening.

"You all know what happened yesterday."

"If it wasn't for Emily, I might not even be alive."

My mom immediately put her arm around my shoulders. I patted her back comfortingly.

"It's okay, it's all over..."

My brother immediately jumped up to argue.

"She just answered some phone calls and bought some time. Anyone with a mouth could do that."

My dad's face clouded over again.

"Where were you when I was kidnapped? What did you do?"

Jason was left speechless.

Chloe, not knowing any better, jumped in.

"Dad! I wanted to rush back, but my brother insisted you'd be fine, that heaven protects good people."

Saying such things at this time was really asking for trouble.

Only those who have experienced kidnapping know it's truly a matter of life and death.

Jason opened his mouth to explain.

"I thought Emily was acting. She likes to compete with Chloe for attention. I thought she was trying to trick me into coming home..."

Reborn into this life, Jason's misunderstanding of me was still so deep.

He always believed I was tricking him.

I saw my dad's eyebrows knit together.

Angry but restrained.

"Who would joke about their parents' lives? Jason, you think Emily is as thoughtless as you!"

"She's always endured your bullying with Chloe, just not wanting us to worry."

"When will you understand your sister's good intentions!"

Hearing the word "sister," Jason seemed to have some switch flipped in his body.

He suddenly stood up.

"I only have one sister, and that's Chloe!"

The next second, a crisp slap landed on his cheek.

My mom, with anger she had held back for a long time, shocked everyone present.

"Then you can get out of the Bay family with her!"
